On all metal mode it will give you much more depth. On any discrimination depth will be at worst an inch more, at best 3 to 4, depending on your type of soil. I have all three coils and about the only time I use the 10 incher is in areas without lots of trash. It is real easy to get confused by the multiple signals that the larger coil will pick up because of the bigger area it covers. You will also have to watch your sensitivity setting as it affects the larger coil more than the smaller one. It gets more interference from power lines and such. Do not underestimate the power of the 4 inch coil. It is what I prefer to hunt with in parks because of the abundance of trash. In all metal mode it will p/u coins down to 8 inches but will only pin point/discriminate them to 5 1/2 inches, maybe six on a good day, providing they have been in the ground for a while. In my coin garden I was not able to accurately identify coins buried at 8 inches with my 10 inch coil, but it did tell me they were there. In all metal mode I could hold the coil 6 inches off the ground and pick up the coins. So it is a toss up between more somewhat more depth, and a new learning curve because the bigger coil really doesn't act like the one that came with your detector. I will say this, I was a little disappointed in the 10 inch coil as reality was different from what I had convinced myself it would be. Not the coils fault. My post is based on how my 505 responds to the coils, yours may be different. Good luck and happy hunting.
