10" excelerator does it again

Rob (IL)

New member
I left the dirt on the coins to show I just found them. I couldn't believe it either. My second day out with my new 10" Excelerator coil, I thought I would try a site I had hunted before. My daughter

Nice finds Rob..............I thought you would like that coil. It has been my favorite for over a year and a half now on the DFX.

Good job Rob. HH Dennis in Idaho

Thanks guys, I couldn't be happier. I know that some guys are finding the silver at shallower depths but I need every inch I can get. Rob

Great finds Rob, I like the depth its getting.

I talked to you before about this coil.Tried to order one today but it was just one of those days i mention your name thanks.

Thanks for the report Rob. I'm sold, I'll have to have one.

My goodness Rob, those coins are wonderful finds! I love the Buffalo nickel. The two Mercs aren't bad either. You did great. You've got your work cut out for you at your daughter's yard. It might take the next few seasons to get it all. I'm amazed at the extra depth. Thanks for keeping us posted. HH to all, Nancy

Let me get this straight, is this the 10 X 12 butterfly coil I want to make sure I order the right one.

No Bob this is not the butterfly coil. I haven't been able to get one of those to test yet. This is a 10" round DD coil. For some reason the 10" is not listed on all the pages.

The 10x12 SEF is a bigger coil and should be even deeper.??? On this one I can't personally say. This 10" will replace my stock coil and 6X10 coils. I don't see a need for them anymore. I will keep the 10" on the detector 90% of the time. If it gets trashy I'll use my 5" or maybe the new 6". If I really need to get deep maybe the 10x12 ( again on this coil I know nothing).
Where the 10" fits.
1- Its about 1" deeper than the 9.5.
2- Its DD footprint gives me more coverage and I don't need to overlap as much as the 9.5.
3- It is about 1.5 to 2" deeper than my 6x10.
4- It seems to separate as good as my 6x10 on multiple targets.

Now this part is just my humble opinion; Several people have said the 300 coil has been a bust. Not that it isn't a good coil, for most hunting it is too big and is overkill. On another forum, ( I can't post to other forums here) Carl@ Whites said Whites will be coming out with a new 10" coil soon. Soon, IMHO, I think you will see Whites shipping new MXT detectors with a 10" standard coil, no 9.5 or 300. Rob

Since Carl spilled the beans for the new coil, I suppose it is OK to say that I have been testing the new White's 10"DD and it works much like the Excelerator 10"DD but built to higher (White's) standards. I look for it to be the stock coil on all future White's high end detectors.

..DARN! Just when I had it narrowed down to Rob's 10" Excelerator or the 10x12 butterfly coil. Thanks to all contributors on the coil info!! I'll wait for the Whites DD and then decide...if I can:wacko:

Thanks for clearing that up Rob, I think I might wait to see what the Whites DD will do myself.
