10"DD or 4x6 Shooter:help:

I know this has probably been gone over 1000 times, but i gotta use up my whites bonus bucks, and cant decide on the 4x6 shooter or put another 100 towards the 10"DD. Most of the areas i hunt have been gone over before so the targets can be in the 6+" range. I would go with the 6x10 but its not available with the bonus bucks:blink: How does the 10"DD work in trashy areas?

I would get the 4x6 shooter it works great in the trashy areas, really makes it easy to find the good stuff in between the junk. I would say you can't go wrong and your gonna want it sooner or later and probably sooner. I also have the 10"D2 nothing wrong with it either, but for know I would get the 4X6.

Hows the depth on the 4x6???

Dave, you've sent some mixed signals here. One sentence you said most areas you hunt have been gone over before so targets can be in the 6+ inch range. Apparently, you're referring to DESIRED targets.

Then you ask, "how does the 10" DD work in trashy areas?

If you're referring to sites that are well hunted, by dedicated detectorists, then they would have thinned out the shallower coins, but also plucked the shallower trash. As long as you have shallow targets, you're going to experience target masking of some deeper objects. Larger coils, concentric or wide-scan (Double-D), will not be you best pick in trashier sites. Smaller coils, most generally, are not your best selections for "deep coin" detection.

So, you're going to have to make the determination as to which coil will work best for you. I've been hunting a VERY trashy old school, site since later last summer/fall. A lot of nails and other small iron, as well as an abundance of pull tabs, bottle caps, some screw caps, thick copper wire, and much more. I've been working it with a number of detector models to evaluate both detectors and search coils and while I have found a few (very few) good targets with a 10X12 SEF or 10" DD or even 950 concentric coils on White's models and an 11" Pro coil on the Explorer SE Pro there, they are not the better choices. :(

Most of the better finds, and definitely the greatest number of desirable finds, have come by using a 5.3 BullsEye or 5.3 Eclipse (both the same-size 6

the bonus buck sheet has the 6x10 listed just no pic or price. i believe you just write down the item number on bonus buck sheet and suggested retail price $179.95 from whites site and subtract bucks then add $10 for shipping. might wanna call to confirm though.

Dave, you can get the 6x10 with the bonus bucks , I called this morn and she said its ok. I ordered mine this afternoon

Hey Monte , Can you clarify the difference for me between the two 5.3 coils you alluded to in this thread, Bullseye and Eclipse , I use the

MXT , which would be preferable? Thank you ! Argentium.

Only the Eclipse will work with the MXT, M6, DFX and Vision. The Bullseye works with the 6.59 kHz detectors like the XLT, IDX, etc, Rob
