10" coil on Teknetics Mark 1

RoadKillDave

I purchased a 10" Bounty Hunter coil for my Teknetics Mark 1 today. When I air tested it with a dime and a gold wedding band it didn't have any more depth than my stock 7" coil. I thought it would give me 2-4 inches more depth.

Any ideas?

Also in low mineralized soil how deep should my Mark1 detect a freshly buried clad time? I buried dimes at 9", 6" & 4" and only the 4" will give me a solid signal with either the 10" or the 7". I figured the 10" would at least get the 6" dime but it doesn't.

Thanks1

Doest sound right. I have a mark 1 also and get solid signals with the 7 inch coil on a dime at 6" in the ground. It doesn't air test very well though. You may want to recheck your garden after it been established for a few months. Good luck, and have fun with it. It separates very well and can see a coin even with small pieces of iron on top of it. I love mine in trashy locations.

Dave, some detectors do not air test very well but do reasonable well out in the field!..............Also some detectors do not do well on freshly planted coins! Try the coil actually in a field test and not on planted coins!!...............Also on your test garden..............water the area good and try it again in a month! And then at 2 months..................basicly the longer the coins are exposed to the ground the better the signal that you should get!!......................HH...........Joe
