10 BUCK RELIC SHOVEL

I needed a small shovel for hunting farm fields and didn't really want to spend a lot on one at the present time , so I made one.
I took a round point shovel purchased from Home Depot for 10.00 and cut the shovel down to how I wanted it with a Dremel tool
using cut off wheels. The handle was cut down and the Dremel was used with a sanding drum to taper the handle to fit the shovel.
Next I drilled and bolted the new handle in and smoothed up a few metal burrs on the shovel. I still need to do a sharpen job on the
shovel and may serrate the blade for cutting roots. Total investment....10.00 and about an hour to make the mods on the shovel.
Took it out hunting yesterday and it worked great. It may not be as fancy as the expensive shovels, but it gets the job done just as well.

Very nice job on the shovel. For cutting roots you can cut 2 pointed teeth on either of the sides of the tapered bottom. The teeth should be at least 1/2" deep. When you put the teeth over the root you can stomp down on the shovel. The teeth will prevent sliding off the root and will cut through 1/2" roots.

Good job Man! :clapping: Its always nice to see people making things themselves, and I am sure you get a good feeling using it too. Well Done!
