10" BBS coil vs. 8" Tornado for the Sov

Greetings everyone,

I have to make a decision about which coil to keep with my GT for shallow water beach hunting. Just got a used GT which had a 8" tornado installed. I will be selling my XS-2Pro (which currently has the 10" BBS) and I'm not sure which coil to keep for the GT. I already have a 15" WOT for dry sand.

I am leaning for the 10" BBS because I already know that is a good coil, but I'm not familiar at all with this 8" Tornado, like what its good for.

Thanks in advance!

Chris

Neil, has a good point. The BBS 10 is heavy and isn't as stable as the Tornado 10 inch in my opinion if it was the Tornado 10 inch that would be the keeper. The small 800 Tornado is one of my favorite coils.I would keep the 7 1/4 inch coil over the older BBS 10 inch. The little coil has excellent depth, very stable, great target separation, less weight to swing.HH Ron

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I do not have time to spend with each one as I was hoping to sell the detector asap, that's why I was hoping to get expert opinions from some who already know these coils.

Ron your answer was very informative, and I have to firmly agree that in order to make proper decision I would have to spend some time with both.

I decided to sell the Tornado after swinging it a bit and realizing that its pretty small for the beach - small as in covering ground in a timely fashion. If I had to thoroughly go through a back yard or a similar application, I would have kept it.

HH everyone!
