10.5DD MF vs 9" concentric 7.5khz

In ground with very low minerals, would the extra weight of the DD still be an advantage over the stock coil as far as depth goes? I really haven't tested these two coils to see just what the difference in depth would be, maybe an inch? Found a '64 rosy with my 6" DD HF at a measured 6", not bad.....Thanks, HH John

My personal options would then toward the 10.5DD 7.5. I use my X-70 for relic Hunting only, so different coil may be better suited other typles of hunting. I switched to 10.5 DD 7.5 5 month's ago and my finds increased from my old hunted sites. First you can cover more ground faster and DD design and same depth from front/back coil. The DD coil is also more stable running at higher sen. setting then any of my concentric coil. I do lots Field in ground testing and would say in my tuple soil, etc. the 10.5DD 7.5 hits about an 1 1/2 deeper, which may not seem like an lot, but in relic hunting in hard hit site it makes an difference hear those deep soft tones. You can go wrong with 10.5DD 7.5 overall, if hunting your area full modern trash the 6-9 inch coil will be easy to use.

In roar depth, I don't think that there is much difference, howevever, for real estate covered at depth, the DD coil wins hands down. I'm tending to prefer the DD coil at the moment, as it seems a bit easier to pinpoint with.

John.....This morning I received my 10.5 DD 7.5KHz. The weather was nice so I decided to give it a try. I went to an area where I have been recovering cw bullets. As I started I could see where I had dug and recovered a number of bullets on previous trips. I started swinging the DD and right off got a hit. Recovered a two ringer from about 10". The other bullets I had recovered were in the 6" to 8" range. I recovered two additional cw bullets in this same area and they were also in the 10" range. No question in my mind that the DD 7.5KHz is going to let me recover a lot more bullets in a hard hunted area TomB
