I had my Xterra 70 up for sale last week and after several deals that didn't pan out, I decided to keep the detector. As an after thought, it is always a good idea to give any detector a chance before selling it. I had only used this detector for 6 hours or so and when I tried to sell it. I had bought a 10.5 dd 7.5 khz coil used before I had even tried the detector. I used it last Wed. and today for a total of 8 hours and this coil is the "total package". I found the separation and depth to be outstanding. I found 7 wheat pennies, two silver war nickles, one buffalo nickle, and two mercury dimes and all these coins came from 7 to 9 inches. I have no doubt there is a couple of more inches of depth available as the signals locked on and repeated from all angles. The areas I hunted were full of trash and these spots had been hunted by me many times with Explorers and Cz's. I had not found any nickles with the Xterra 70 and yesterday, I got a readout from Sandy at Minelab. The nickles all read 10 to 14 and locked on. The first coin I found today was the buffalo and it read 10 to 12 and was 8 inches deep! Even with the dd coil, the detector is not heavy or unbalanced. I feel I now have a lightweight Explorer. I can wade through trash and get great depth just by slowing down. If anyone is thinking of the 70, give this coil a shot. By the way, the two spots I hunted, the coins were at depths that I found them with an Explorer and CZ 70. It was an honest comparision and this combo rivaled the two kings of depth( Explorer and CZ 70) I am not impressed with the stock 9 inch 7.5 khz coil. It is alright, but not in the same league as the DD. I'm sure there will be some people who dispute my findings, but so be it. Give this setup a try, you won't be disappointed. R.L.
