10.5" coil for CZ-3D

Agseeker

New member
I've been using a CZ-3D with the stock coil for about 7 months now and have been thinking about buying the 10.5" coil. Does the 10.5" coil increase the depth enough to make it worth the money? Hearing about your experiences with the 10.5" vs the 8" would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Agseeker, if you want to cover ground faster it would be a plus , but it is a little heavier than the stock 8 inch coil. Probably gaining 2-3 inches in depth over the stock coil . I mainly hunt yards so the 8 inch coil is fine for me . HH Tony

Well it excels for more coverage, pinpoints very well, seems to like targets on edge, gives a little more depth but its heavy and most hipmount for long hunts....

Thanks for the replies. Any worse than the 17" coil on the Minelab CTX 3030?

Tony-ok are you in Oklahoma? I'm in OKC.

if you are wanting the most depth-but go slow using zero discrimination.[Check Finds Classified for pre-owned loops-for a price break.]
Yes it weighs more, but is lighter than the Sunray 12 and I could see no apparent added depth on pennies/dimes with the '12-but Bill Ladd likes it.
(I am a spinal cord injury with one arm-and I use it handheld-I even have the Sunray FZ1 Invader inline probe on it-I go about 3 hours before a break.)

I just got my cz6a back from Tom D. My 10.5 coil was about 1 in. deeper in his Florida dirt with a dime...(12.2) in. than the 8 in. Personally I would prefer the 8 in coil as the additional 1 in. gain wouldn't be worth it to me because of the added weight of the 10.5 coil....Hip mounting is a little uncomfortable for me...

With either a 6A or a 70Pro. That Sunray 12 wore me out in 30 minutes.
Tom's soil in many places is Very low minerals. (The old PRG which is a hi-freq TR-IB would hit a quarter at 12" there)
I hate hip-mounts too; the last one I used was a Tek 8500 with the 7.5 loop; give you an idea how long ago that was?
[If enough of us hit Nel, Mars or some other makers-I'm sure they would see there is a market for CZ DD's]
