Lots of relic s to be found,
and of course some coin s , im sure .
The Family was amazed , at how it would tell the difference between coins and stuff,
in an air test.
Have a 13 yr old and 7 year old, that cant wait to get out.
Got a Bounty Hunter, Pioneer 505, with the MXT, so they have 1 too.

Dusty

Hi Dusty, Welcome to the MXT forum and I know you picked the right machine. I've had mine for nearly 9 years and it's still one of White's top sellers. It's a great machine and I can run with the big boys!! And I do mean that! Your kids are very fortunate that they will have a detector to use also. And I'm glad they want to go with you too. It's snowing hard here in Central Illinois and it's going to be a long time till we're able to get out to detect. I wish you many wonderful finds and we'll be here if you need anything. We would love to hear about your finds throughout the year. Stay warm and HH, Nancy

Got the same pair of detectors. MXT as primary, and BH 505 as backup/loaner. Very happy with both.

The MXT is one of the best-EVER detectors from ANY manufacturer! With time and patience you'll learn to get a lot out of it. The stock coil works OK for most open-area searches, and if you haven't bought a smaller coil yet you might want to consider it. My favorite, that is always mounted and at-the-ready on an MXT, is the 5.3 Eclipse. This excellent 6

Hi. I have only been detecting for 2 months and picked up an MXT 2 weeks ago. My first day out I found my very first gold, a long fine gold chain ! The very next day I found a .925 Post earring w/the back still on it ! Not only that but it had a .925 silver pendant w/ a beautiful natural pearl in it which had been threaded onto the earring. Maybe it's just beginners luck but I studied and researched the MXT just as you have and that's how it's working out for me. Hope you have even better fortune. Good luck and HH.

That's super srf2112. :clapping: What a way to start and I hope it continues for you. Enjoy that MXT. HH, Nancy

I have a Whites 6x10 DD coil for my MXT to go along w/the stock 950 coil. As I understand it, the 4x6 DD is mandatory equipment on the MXT when prospecting. Other than that is it worth my $ to pick up a 4x6 also for coin/jewelry hunting or is it somewhat redundant and unnecessary since I have the 6x10 ? My ignorance may be showing but that's why I'm here, to learn from some experts. Thanks in advance. HH

In my opinion.......No, you don't need the 4x6 DD with the other coil you have. You'll do just fine. HH, Nancy

Thanks for your input Nancy. I'll defer to your expertise and go with your advice and not invest in one now. I WILL keep my eyes open for a GOOD deal on one and pick it up if I do though as I am planning on learning to use this machine for prospecting in the Sierra-Nevada Mtns.when the time arrives. Thanks again, you rock ! HH

PS~ Think warm thoughts, it can't snow forever (can it ?)

Boy, I tell ya ,
It sure is nice to be around a group of people that are willing to share and be helpful, and be Hospitable.
Now days, people seem to be in a rush , and Life is Busy, in our own worlds.
Ive always been a Rockhound / Prospector, ( Hobbies) And I know some people with the same interests.
But , The responses i got from local friends , was to the effect , I'm nuts, to spend that amount of money on a detector;.
Kind of felt alone...But my Gal stood by me. and went with it, just as excited as me ,
I now Know 3 Locals that are avid detectorists,,1 has a dfx, 1 has an MXT,,,the other ??
Anyhow, between you all, here,, and the locals ,so far,,,It just helps to reaffirm , I made the right choice..
I do plan , by the end of March, to purchase a 4x6 DD Eclipse coil , for prospecting and for areas with a lot of trash,
And I was told ,our soil is very mineralized , here in Montana,
Anyhow, I will definitely get set up to show pics of finds,,
Again,
I Thank you all,,
Dusty

You DID make the best decision in my opinion.
The 4x6DD will probably come in real handy if you prospect in
mineralized soil, from what I hear. I have yet to get to any gold nuggett
country so I can't say from personal experience.

I wanted to get out today and try a hunt
but the ground is frozen soild, and I don't much like the cold anyway.

Happy Hunting.

Katz

Welcome aboard, I have both the 6x10 & the 4x6 dd coils, & have been using them for two years. I like both coils but use the 4x6 most of the time, the main reason is that it is so easy to pin point with. When coin shooting I can pin point a target & with a screwdriver hit the coin about 9 out of 10 times, where with the 6x10 I am not as close. I do not dig plugs in lawns & only use a screwdriver to retrieve coins. With a little practice you can pop out a coin from 6-7". But as you will learn with time I am sure you will pick your favorite coil for the way you hunt. The 4x6 is surgical in trashy areas, I hit an area where a old city dump was knowing that there would be a lot of trash, & knowing that it had been gone over many times in the past. I was able to pick out a 1907 barber dime & 12 wheat's with the 4x6.

Nice,, thats all I needed to hear..
Sounds like the 4x6 is the way to go for us.
We wont be using it strictly for gold, but we do like to pan and sluice in the hot months
( Nice Cold clean creeks) so will be pullin it out up there for sure.
And we do have Highly Mineralized Ground from what the local detectorists have told me.
Jeez, cant wait for it to thaw.
Thanks for the Input,
Good luck to ya , in youre hunting.
Dusty
