Your experiences with Whites 5.3 vs EXcelerator 6"DD .
Any input is appreciated. Thanx

Highly mineralized to moderately mineralized soil The 6" hands down!

I have never used the 5.3 Whites coil, but I have used the 4x6 coil, the 4.5x7 DD Ecelerator and the 6" DD Excelerator and when I need a small coil the 6" DD is by far my favorite coil. My wife uses the 4.5x7 DD and she will not use any other one especially when hunting heavy trash areas, like parks, sandlots etc. You can't go wrong with the 6" DD Excelerator as you will get good depth, with accurate VDI numbers and accurate pinpointing. I used my 6" today and dug a target at around 8", which is pretty good for a small coil. JMHO. HH Dennis in Idaho

I've had good results and good depth with the 5.3, especially considering the size. As to a direct comparison with the 6"DD, I haven't had the opportunity to use one, but would think it should be good as well.

They are both good coils. A lot depends on the type of soil you will be hunting. The 5.3 is a concentric coil and the 6" excelerator is a DD coil. If your ground has minerals the 6" will easily out do the 5.3. If in doubt go with the DD. No one coil is best in all conditions.

Concentric loops like the 5.3 have the following advantages:
Can get good targets under bad targets because of their cone shaped field
They are 10% quieter regarding magnetic interference from power lines
They have 10% better trash discrimination on iron - steel bottle caps and foil
They can shape the target without walking around it
They pin point accurately

Wide Scan Loops (DD) like the 6" have the following advantages:
They have better side by side target separation
They are more sensitive to smaller than coin size targets
They are more sensitive off the tip area of the coil
They smooth out the ground reactivity noise by 10%.
