I had plans this morning to get an early start before the heat of the day set in, but I started to late. I went to one of my favorite sights anyway. I usually hunt my way over to my favorite spot, but today I just walked to it. By the time I started it was around 90 degrees. I was swinging my MXT with the 6 " Excelerator and my first hit was a pull tab, and out pops this heavy 10K gold ring with a small diamond. It made me forget the heat if only for a moment. I was able to hunt for for about an hour after finding the ring. I picked a little clad, a heart pendant and a dog Id tag before I noticed that my dog who always hunts with me appeared to be getting over heated as was I, so I called it a day. HH Dennis in Idaho

I'd take those kind of pull tabs any day. Bet that gold cooled you down fast. Poor Duke. Did you leave him playing in the dirt? Totally awesome find Dennis in Idaho!!! Great pictures also. Thanks.

Dennis,

You are da man! That goes to show you that a 1-hour hunt can be many times more productive than an all day hunt if you go to the right spot! I went out for an hour this past Tuesday after work. I searched a large open field that led to a pond and tons of people head across this field on their way to go fishing. The grass was longer than it looked from the road and it was difficult to swing my new MXT, so I called it a day after finding one 1976 penny that was 6 inches down. The chiggers and bugs were something else. It is how here in the South too and not very conducive to long hunts, thats for sure. Thanks for your post. It gives me hope for the future! Pete
