1.5 hours and an interesting find dated 1585...

Did a night hunt for about 1.5 hours this evening. The temps were a little warmer, 3C/38F with very little wind so it made for a nice hunt. Detected a new field near the area where I
 
Mike, that is a sweet find! Don't know what it is but it does look in pretty good shape; almost too nice for a 400-year-old coin. But I love finds like that. If you get anything definitive on what it is post it! I would like to know.

I hope you get a positive ID on that thing. Your local fields looked mighty inviting Friday. We had to circle for about an hour outside of Frankfurt. Lots of snow on anything with elevation, but the fields looked like they just had snow around the edges. I wish I could have stayed longer!
 
it may have just commemorated an event or something that happened in 1585? Just a guess....hope it is that old....
