$1.00 Coin

Initially I thought I had an old $1.00 coin until I researched this Rutherford B. Hayes coin and found out it was minted in 2011. I had never heard of these coins or even seen them before. Oh well, still kinda cool even if it is a newer coin.

Yeah, those come from the bank with a gold color to them. The uh..."Tooth Fairy" leaves 'em for our kids. I got in trouble with the wife for telling my six year old to leave his tooth on the mousetrap to catch the tooth fairy. :nono:

Nice find. Thanks for the picture.

Yep those things are out there but on the rarer side. The first time i seen one was in a cashier's register, offered her a paper dollar for it. Little did i know it's only worth a dollar.

You know, that is one thing that this hobby has done for me for sure: taught me that there are a lot of new and old coins that I never knew about. I mean, I remember wheat pennies and buffalo nickels being plentiful in the early 90s when I was a teenager, and remember getting Kennedy half dollars from the recycler in town when I would take in aluminum cans. I've really become a coin hound in the last few months. I appreciate my friend everyday that I'm out. He's the reason I even got into this hobby, and I'm pretty sure it took him several months to convince me. Definitely one of those "what was I waiting for" type situations. Either way, that's an awesome find and I'd still be pumped. Finding a coin that I didn't even know of would be nearly as cool as a silver!
