09.02.2012 Hunt (Old Corner Lot Metamora)

Went out this evening with our usual crew (us new members of PATH). Got permission to hunt an older lot on the south side of town. There were a couple of good finds (plenty more hiding im sure).
We ended up finding an 1850 Upper Bank of Canada Penny, 1916 (no mint mark) Merc, 1937 Quarter, 1938 Quarter, 1942 Nickel and a 1943D Merc. And a handful of wheaties.
We plan on meeting up again in the am and heading out to a few spots so hopefully this time tomorrow we have some more goodies to show.

Mike (Buck0182) found the 1850 Canadian large penny (I dont have a pic of this hopefully he reads this post and posts a pic).
My father (Metman) found not one but two pocket spills tonight. First spill had the 1942 Nickel sitting right on top of the '38 quarter (right side where the dark spot on quarter is). Second spill was the 1916 Merc along with the '37 quarter (two great pocket spills)..
I ended up finding the '43D Merc first target of the night and ended up finding nothing but clad for the rest of the evening..

Had a good friend of mine borrow my 250 (hunt was in his yard). He ended up not only getting hooked on the hobby but finding a few goodies in the yard as well (busted horseshoe and some other stuff).

Take care everyone and look forward to seeing you all this weekend!

Neil

Here is the 1850 Canadian penny
Front side says " Bank of Upper Canada"
Reverse says "Bank Token" "One Penny"

Those are awesome finds. Congrats! Love those pocket spills and I really love seeing those older nickels rescued. I love any old nickels. Is that a war nickel? I bet there might be some Indian cents at that yard. Can't wait to see more of the finds from there.

Love the Canadian cent. I've never seen one before. BIG congratulations on the find.

HH,
Nancy

Congratulations to both of you guys, those are some very nice finds......:clapping:

I dont believe his '42 is a war nickel as it does not have a mink mark above the monticello (so must be from right before they switched to silver during the war nickel run)..
We swug a bit today out in the woods and ended up with a bunch of trash (and a surface marble). Hope everyone has a good week!
