Today we returned to the area that has been so productive lately. We knocked on quite a few doors with many people not being home, probably at work. The few houses that people were home at allowed us to hunt. Thats a risk you take with midweek hunting. Apparently we were suspicious enough looking for someone to call the police. We later found out that they have had troubles with break-ins recently. Two sherrifs deputies stop by to check us out at the last place we hunted and let us go without any problem. They explained they were just following up on a call but they seemed quite interested in what we were doing, asking about our best finds ever etc... No problem. They were very nice and just doing their job. Kuddos fellas! Not the first time this has happened and won't be the last.
Today was very slow going in the keeper department. We both found a few injuns at the first house but nothing else. The second property produced a few more relics, another injun and a silver roosie for me. The very last house where we were shaken down was the most productive. My buddy Goose hit a pocket spill with 3 silver dimes and a few nickels. A few feet away he dug a no-date standing liberty quarter. He put some major points on the board in the final minutes to come from behind in the coins department. We have the OK to return to this property when we have more time. I ended up with a 59 roosie, a 1899 injun and a few wheats. I did a little better with relics: A silver pocketwatch of unknown maker, a silver plated spoon, unmarked (believed to be) silver/plated St. Christopher medalion, a costume broach missing a few stones, and a charm bracelet with two german names and coat of arms. The owner stated he was a full blooded Dane so I was unable to return to it's rightful owner. Pics below: Truck bumper group shot (I got smoked!) my relic and coin finds cleaned up. Thanks, JJ
(I will upload a pic of Goose's finds cleaned up when he emails me them.)
