The ice & snow are gone and i decided to take my E-Trac for a well deserved walk in a site that I have not found anything in the las three times that I hunted there with my Old EX II. It was an old area of Guyandotte, WV., just over the bridge from where I live. This town saw a few battles in 1861 for control by both the Union & Confederate Armies. This is where I portray a Union Provost Marshall during the reenactments every November. I was hoping for a few old coins, but the Civil War Relics showed up. I was there for two hours before the dangerous winds of last night showed up. The first thing I found was a Lincoln Memorial. That was followed with the recovery of a Part of a Pocket Watch, the beside that I found a Jefferson Nickel. I moved over towards a fence and dug a Cannon Fiction Primer fired. Well that made me think of finding other Civil War Related Items. Then I hit an area that had Six 30.06 Casings, two where blanks and the remaining four were live fired rounds. The next thing to come out of the ground was a flattened Pewter Cup. I was getting ready to leave because the winds were picking up and I had a good coin reading, it was a 11-47 at eight inches. I was surprised to pull out a 1846 Braided Hair Large Cent. The first from this site and the second Large Cent with this new machine, Well, I had accomplished what I set out to do. The last find took be off guard. a signal only two inches deep turned out to be a Sword Scabbard Throat Guide Thick, dented & very Heavy. That was just the best Civil War Relic of the day. and I left happy and ready for my next hunt. Oh, by the way, all this was found in the coin mode. All the signals were clear and crisp. HH...Jesse.
