02/11/2009 Finds.

The ice & snow are gone and i decided to take my E-Trac for a well deserved walk in a site that I have not found anything in the las three times that I hunted there with my Old EX II. It was an old area of Guyandotte, WV., just over the bridge from where I live. This town saw a few battles in 1861 for control by both the Union & Confederate Armies. This is where I portray a Union Provost Marshall during the reenactments every November. I was hoping for a few old coins, but the Civil War Relics showed up. I was there for two hours before the dangerous winds of last night showed up. The first thing I found was a Lincoln Memorial. That was followed with the recovery of a Part of a Pocket Watch, the beside that I found a Jefferson Nickel. I moved over towards a fence and dug a Cannon Fiction Primer fired. Well that made me think of finding other Civil War Related Items. Then I hit an area that had Six 30.06 Casings, two where blanks and the remaining four were live fired rounds. The next thing to come out of the ground was a flattened Pewter Cup. I was getting ready to leave because the winds were picking up and I had a good coin reading, it was a 11-47 at eight inches. I was surprised to pull out a 1846 Braided Hair Large Cent. The first from this site and the second Large Cent with this new machine, Well, I had accomplished what I set out to do. The last find took be off guard. a signal only two inches deep turned out to be a Sword Scabbard Throat Guide Thick, dented & very Heavy. That was just the best Civil War Relic of the day. and I left happy and ready for my next hunt. Oh, by the way, all this was found in the coin mode. All the signals were clear and crisp. HH...Jesse.

Wow! This site appears to be Virgin. Really nice finds. Can you give me directions one more time. :detecting:,

Aloha from Bob in Hawaii

That is one nice coin! I wish the copper that came out of my ground looked half as good as that. Mine is all corroded and pitted (and not near as old). Great Job! Keep it up!!!

Thanks everybody, I have been hunting that site for over 25 years off & on. Just proves how good this machine really is. HH...Jesse.

Man, that coin is awesome!! Was the spot you were hunting in very trashy? I am asking this because I didnt know how the coin mode would work on one of my trashier spots. Thanks

This area has moderate trash, lighter in some spots, & Heavier in others. This machine works good in all soils. It will go null in iron and still pick out the good targets in the same areas. Thanks & HH...Jesse.
