0 or 1 or 2 knees?

In the subject line put the number of knees you put on the ground while digging coins and jewelry from the dirt. I'll tell you why. I was talking to a guy that said he just bends over and digs without touching his knees to the ground. I tried this and it was a killer on my back. I also tried putting just one knee on the ground. I didn't like that either. So I guess it's 2 knees dirty for me digging in the dirt. I just feels right for me.

For now I just squat down. Give me a few more years and I will probably be a 1 knee-er.

one muddy pant leg is plenty thank-you......

Kind of an interesting question; one I never gave much thought on.

I use a couple of methods, depending. For one thing it depends on ground conditions. In muddy conditions I squat, while in drier conditions I will use either one knee or two. Whether one knee or two is used depends on the terrain. While I prefer two knees, some areas, such as areas with heavy underbrush, simply do not have the room for it and one knee or squatting is necessary.

TIP: One thing I recommend for everyone, especially in the chillier months, is stretching out your muscles before you start detecting. I learned the hard way after pulling a back muscle last winter while recovering a coin. I was so stiff and in so much pain I had a hard time getting back to my car.

Zero knees, however some times I need to dab one knee in order to get leverage when lifting treasure chests or large gold bars from the ground, as this is a common occurrence since I got my gti2500. Anything heavier than that I get an apprentice.

Sometimes 0 (zip, nada, nada-II, none, zero - squatting don't sound right )
Sometimes 1 ( I think it's usually the right knee, maybe the left sometimes)
Sometimes 2 ( on a good day or should I say a good interesting signal)
But Then -
There are those days where I just lay on my side and this can be for various reasons -
lazy, tired, or better yet, careful precise resting excavation management

Did you mean 5' 4" and 300 lbs?
