    Excalibur II settings

Hello. I need some help with the settings for the Excal-II on the beach. Are the settings the same for wading or beach walking? Should I try to use the SENS at 10? I read in some posting that recommended the SENS at 6 or you could lose depth. Wouldn't SENS 9-10 give more depth? I noticed...

Decision between Excal-2, Explorer SE Pro, or Etrac

Which unit would be better for the beach between the Excalibur-II, Explorer SE Pro, and Etrac? Unit would be used for beach hunting from dune toe to surf (no water hunting or diving). If you got the Explorer or Etrac how would you waterproof the control box so that it doesn't get damaged...

    tin token question

Found a thin tin token today at an old park. The token has a small hole and is the size of a nickel. One side is almost clean but the other side has some rust. There is some writing on that side. What is the best way to remove the rust? My MXT's VDI reading was jumping from 77 to 92 (through...

    Beach hunter ID settings depth

Have had the BHID for a month. What are the best settings for increase depth? I run in all metal mode with the sens close to max after ground balancing. I get a high shrill tone. I have found a dime in wet sand at 8-10 inches. Can I get more depth than that by twiking the settings? Thanks. HH. Moe

    Fill holes

We were in Myrtle Beach SC last week and had the chance to try my new Whites BHID. Hunting on the beach was relaxing and people were very friendly. Several folks asked me about detecting and wished me luck. The first couple of days I only saw 1 or 2 other detectorists but on my last day I saw...

    Beach Hunter ID settings

For the BHID owners out there, what are the recommended settings on the surf/wet sand (all metal, disc, sensitivity)? what is the easiest way to ground balance the detector on wet sand? Does it have to be rebalanced every time you move from wet to dry sand? thanks. Happy Hunting! Moe

    BHID problem

I was setting up my brand new Beach Hunter ID this evening and when I tried to open the battery compartment one of the pins holding the latch fell off. I couldn't believe my luck since the machine was purchased 2 days ago. Has this happened to anyone? Is this a rare thing? I am afraid that the...

    Beach Hunter ID latch problem

I was setting up my brand new BHID tonight and when I tried to open the battery compartment one of the pins holding the latch fell off. I couldn't believe my luck since the machine was purchased 2 days ago. The latch mechanism looks weak in my opinion. Has this happened to anyone? Is this a rare...

    choosing beach detector

I am trying to choose a beach detector for Florida. So far I am leaning toward the Whites Beachhunter ID but have heard that the Whites Surf PI, Minelab Sovereign GT, and Excalibur are also pretty good. Does anyone know the pros/cons of these detectors and which may be the best/buy value? I...

new coil 6X10 DD Eclipse MXT

I just bought a Whites 6x10DD Eclipse coil for my MXT. I also have the stock coil and a 4x6 DD coil. This evening I took the 6X10DD out for the first time to an old park that I have hunted many times before. The mineralization was 50-87%. I had the gain at +3 (all metal). The coil seemed to be a...

    traveling with MXT

I have an opportunity to go to New England soon and was thinking of bringing my MXT. Do airlines allow you to take the detector as carry-on (if disassembled)? I am afraid to put it in with the cargo. Is there a recommended way to package it? Thanks and HH. Moe (FL)

    One more MXT coil question

I have an MXT with the 950 stock and a 4x6DD coils. I like both of these coils. Each works well in Florida. I have heard that the Whites 6x10 DD coil is very good. I am wondering if it is better than the 950 stock coil. Does it give more depth? If yes how much more (1", 2")? I tried the...

    MXT big coils

Has anyone air tested the DeepScan DD1400 (8x14) coil? What kind of results did you get? I called Whites and the rep explained that the DD1400 has about 50 lines that do the detecting inside which cause it to miss small coins. She said that it is good for big objects buried deep. She said that...

    big coil decision (MXT)

Between the Deepscan DD1400 coil and the The 18" EXcelerator Searchcoil (from Kellyco) which is a better coil for the MXT (easier to use, pinpoint, and goes deeper)? thanks. HH Moe

    4x6 DD coil MXT

I recently got my 4x6 DD coil for the MXT. I took it to an old park with lots of iron/trash. I find it harder to pinpoint with than the stock 9.5" coil. DOes anyone know how deep can it go? I hit a few targets that jumped all over including 81,82,83,84, 86 but when I dug I couldn't find...

    8x14 Deepscan coil for MXT

I have been detecting for about 6 months. Own an MXT (1 month). I have the 9.5" and 4x6 DD coils. I have been thinking to get a bigger coil for deeper targets. Heard that the 8x14 deepscan is supposed to be great for depth and accuracy for the MXT. Is this true? What kind of depth can you expect...
