    Gold ring

Here's one from right at the front of a soccer field stand. The stands are small, aluminum units but the Ace 250 didn't have any trouble with the standard coil. I like finding these rings with the melee cut diamonds, those tiny rocks sparkle so much better than the industrial chips usually...

    "Sterling 950"

Found this ring today, kind of a honker. Most of my silver finds (that aren't coins) are marked .925, this one (and a few others I've found) is marked .950. Can anyone tell me the difference?

    Good hunt

Been too hot and dry lately, but a little rain got me out Sunday for a good bark-chip playground action. 214 coins, nothing old, the chain is plated. I'm paying for it today with sore thigh muscles from stooping to dig. I really like school playgrounds when there's nothing else going on!

Do you consider a US "War" nickel a "silver coin"??

I have an OCD thing about finding at least one silver coin annually with my ACE 250, and have met the challenge every year I've been detecting except for 2013 (don't know why that year stung me, just poor luck, or laziness I guess). This morning I found a '43-P War nickel (40-odd percent...

    As usual.......

Found this baby at a local school. ...........marked "CHINA" inside. Yeah, I actually never thought for a nanosecond it was real, but maybe someday........

    Sunday jaunt

I hit one of my old favorite sites, used to be a school football field but now it's used for soccer. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's a lot of sweat for very little payoff. Today was a good day. The dime is a 64d. One ring is marked "Please return to Tiffany & Company New York 925". The...

Still makin' it with ACE 250

Found this little gem at a local park today, 14k white gold, looks to be 2ct+, will get it appraised and see if the wife wants it.

    Base beeping

Another trip to the military base I try to hit every now and then. The dime is a '49-s. [attachment 198249 snowandbeeping015.JPG] This appears to be a chime piece or something, obviously Mt. Fuji in the background and all Japanese characters on the back: [attachment 198252...

    Lots of fun today.......

Hit a new-for-me barkchip playground today, three hours for 310 coins including 88 dimes, 26 nickels, 38 quarters and 158 pennies. All with my trusty ACE 250. [attachment 183269 Recordhaul001.JPG] I would have hit this place earlier, but it's usually locked up. Today someone forgot to lock...

Ever run into "Mister Master Detector"..... who isn't??

I've run into this several times lately and really have no explanation for it. I don't think there is one. What happens is that I'll be working a school yard or soccer field, one of the places where just about everyone who has a detector searches. I'll turn a corner and there's another guy with...

    One of those (bad) days....

I'm sure it happens to everyone at some point, but I really hate it when a plan goes bad. MY plan for Labor Day was to hit a school about 45 minutes from where I live (nice football stadium, relatively old, easy access), then continue up the road another 10 miles for more of the same at...

    Short trip to favorite site

Two hours at a military installation, another section of base housing ready to go under the dozer. 83 memorial pennies, 3 wheats ('41, '57d, '45), 3 Canadian pennies, Old Granddad whiskey bottle tag, rabies vaccine dog tag, odd button, gumball machine devils mask, 3 keys (always find keys), 17...

    Chinese .925, how reliable?

This is one of my recent ring finds (from the bench side of the home team seats, near the fence). It's marked ADI .925 and has CHINA stamped inside. I wouldn't be suprised to learn that pieces from China (whether gold, silver or whatever) might be a bit "off" from actual silver content, does...

Seems like a good day for silver everywhere.........

Reading the board it seems like this was a fine day to find silver all over the place. I had a 4-hour break from work and took the opportunity to get some sun and fun. Two wheats ('44 and '56) and silver: [attachment 89621 P1260064.jpg] Some of the other junk: [attachment 89620 P1260062.jpg]...

    Whatzit?

Marked as sterling, dime for size comparison. Any ideas?? [attachment 88785 P1240055.jpg] [attachment 88786 P1240056.jpg] [attachment 88787 P1240057.jpg] [attachment 88788 P1240059.jpg] Thanks, Steve

Last finds for a little while....

Some of my better finds lately have included these: [attachment 88425 P1220052.jpg] [attachment 88427 P1220053.jpg] And this was the first complete pair I've found on base so far: [attachment 88426 P1200048.jpg] One of my base housing areas is being fenced off for construction to resume...

    Just a tip....

I'm sure it's been posted before but I never paid much attention to it if it was. Fruit trees. One of my favorite detecting areas is a military base housing area that was demolished, turning it into a giant park-like place. Scattered around among the big oaks and some pine trees are Bradford...

    Few latest silvers......

A few silver finds lately. This half is fire-damaged, from an old school that burned to the ground: [attachment 85852 P1140041.jpg] [attachment 85855 P1140044.jpg] This Merc from the same place: [attachment 85853 P1140042.jpg] A Rosie to cap it off, from another spot; Merc reverse from...

    Dry bags

I'm looking for a good.... something........to carry my wallet, hotel keycard, and possibly cell phone into while wading the mine. I've seen Trident and Innovative bags in various scuba stores online, does anyone have experience with a specific brand, style or type that really works? And where...

    Some silver left........

I had thought my favorite spot was all worn out and no silver was left, of course I was wrong. Over a year working on it and goodies still pop up: [attachment 83064 Pc210037.jpg] A common find at this site, spent 9mm bullets: [attachment 83065 Pc210039.jpg] All the keepers, including 4...
