    Short hunt this morning

I don't think so, see the reeding in the grooves? That's indicative of a more modern bullet. The grooves themselves don't have the same orientation as a three ringer, I can't explain it, but pull up a pic of a three ringer and you'll see what I'm talking about. Finally, don't three ringers have...

Just got back from a Beach Hunt and learned something about the wireless head phones.

Thanks a bunch for that piece of advice. It explains some weirdness I've experienced. My son gave me an ATMax last Father's day. I'm still learning how to use it, but it's great fun and gets my old ass out of the house. I've never had any other detector and I find none of the negatives some have...

    AT MAX

My son gave me one for Father's Day last year. I like it, I'm still learning it. Never having used any other detector I'm not seeing some of the negatives some claim it has.

Need help. Find a buried electrical line.

Most states have a call before you dig line. They'll find it and mark it for you. No muss, no fuss.

    First Hunt of the Yr

The case is a 30-06 blank, notice the crimped case mouth. The 30-06 is a rimless case, 30-30 is rimmed and has quite a case taper.

I used the search term "vintage match safe with hunting scene" and there's a great many came up on images similar to yours, but no exact match. They seem to be from around the early 1900s. Try it and see what you find, you may be more diligent than I was.

    Bullet I.D.?

The weight, 236 grains, suggests a .44 Special, but that's a guess. All I got.

    Civil war ammunition

I stated I meant no harm, or insult. Just an observation on so many old bullets in a country that didn't have quite the prevalence of arms as the US.

    Civil war ammunition

Just a thought. There's a gal on another detecting forum who's from the UK that finds a ton of musket balls, lead bullets, etc. in her hunts. For a country that doesn't have a real shooting tradition like the US, you guys sure seem to have slung a lot of lead around. No disrespect or insult...

Funny quotes or sayings from movies.

Also from Josey Wales. Josey, says to Lone "Every time I get to liking somebody, they ain't around long". Lone replies, " I noticed every time you get to disliking somebody, they ain't around long either".
