    Ok - stupid question

Do you need to ground balance the Sovereign GT if you are hunting in Disc ON mode? I've heard conflicting reports, but I thought I understood that you only have to ground balance if you are hunting in All Metal. Just want to clarify once and for all. Thanks

    Beach Hunter 300 question

Somewhere over the last year or so I ran across an article or two dealing with a technique for getting better depth and/or sensitivity out of a Beach Hunter 300 (or maybe it was written for the BHID). I've spent some time searching and I just can't seem to find it here or on any of the other...

Not enough of a storm up here...

We got some wind and waves, but I hit my regular spots and for the most part saw more sand in than out sadly. No cuts to speak of and no dune damage - just pretty much a slow gradual slope to the water at Hampton, Salisbury and Plum Island. Hit a long stretch of clad at Salisbury that lasted a...

How to go from OOOOH to POOOO in 2 seconds...

Hit a local swimming area a couple weeks ago - found a couple nice things, but near the end, I got a really hard signal and when I brought my scoop up, I could already hear the telltale "clinking" of something big and potentially really good. My view went from this.... [attachment 69042...

Couple hours this morning at a local lake...

My favorite lake to hunt - quiet in the morning, lots of swimmers with "bling" on during hot days, crystal clear water and nice sand to dig in. It seems like it's being hit pretty consistently and hard by a few locals this year compared with last, but there's still always something there...

What are some of the dumbest things you've ever done...

in the pursuit of this wonderful hobby? I have 2 I'd like to share: 1) Shortly after getting my CZ20 while I was still trying to learn it, I stopped off at a local "tot lot" on my way home from work. Followed all the steps I had memorized to ground balance it and got started - started getting...

No great finds, but a surprise good deed...

Decided I'd been working too much lately so left work ON TIME for a change and headed to the beach for a couple hours before heading home. Ended up finding a grand total of $0.57, some junk metal and a pair of reading glasses. As it got dark, another hunter (Mike) stopped by and we chatted for...

    Something to think about...

I frequent a number of treasure hunting forums, and when I logged onto one of them last night I found that one of the very regular posters had been robbed. Someone broke into his home and stole his laptop computer as well as his entire safe full of finds. I can't help but wonder how many...

Some of my finds from this year...

I got a really late start this year due to all sorts of other obligations, but I'm been working pretty hard the last few weeks. The other finds I made went as gifts to my nieces and I messed up and deleted the pictures from the camera :( Taking the day off work Friday for my birthday and gonna...

Thanks to those who offered me advice about back support with CZ20...

picked up a decent looking back brace support with velcro straps in the medical area of Walmart and gave it a workout Sunday. 10pm - 3am in wet & dry sand around low tide, came home for a short breakfast and then 3-4 hours in mucky bottom freshwater lake. Only felt a tiny bit of lower back...

Question about CZ20 with chest mount and back pain...

I currently only have one detector (CZ20) and use it both in the water, on the beach and even on land. I tried the waist mount and didn't care for it because I felt like I had me so off balance due to the weight of the case. I eventually got the chest mount and I really like it because of the...

    Saturday morning lake finds...

Been hunted recently because finds were very few and far between - had to work ultra slowly to find the few things I did - happy though with the outcome... Here's the full loot - nickel is a 1944P silver [attachment 62097 P10103162.JPG] Small .925 silver earring [attachment 62098...

    silver ring find today...

Hit a local beach this morning hoping to find some leftovers from the July 4th celebration. TONS of garbage (to be expected unfortunately) - a pocketful of change, some junk jewelry and a nice little silver "kokopelli" ring. Gonnaa hit some freshwater lakes this weekend

    This is really getting old...

I'm not in grade school anymore, and I don't visit this forum to be "entertained" by people trying to start arguments and flame wars. I come here for several reasons that I hope most all of you share: 1. To see the things other TH'rs find to help motivate me on those "bad" hunting days I...

Wanted to publicly thank Mr. Babbs...

I have a trip scheduled to the Bahamas leaving this Friday and as is usually my case, I procrastinated and didn't look into getting a good travel scoop until I e-mailed Mr. Babbs on March 20. I explained what I wanted and when I hoped to have it by and Bill did a super job of keeping on contact...

    You've seen paradise, now see...

the opposite!!! Day off work today and was hoping to get out to the ocean to hit low tide after a little bit of a windy night. Needless to say the smart move was to stay inside and off the roads. Man, I can't wait to retire and find someplace warm (and great for year round detecting) to live!

I think someone was using discrimination...

I went back to the mucky freshwater pond I recently found a 10K ring, mercs and a buffalo in and spent an hour or so searching again. Off the sand again in the muck and mud I started hitting just a load of targets. Many were iron, but there were quite a few mid range tones and as before it was...

    Ran across an interesting pond...

not too far from where I live. It has a small beach area and has been around for quite a number of years so thought I'd give it a check. Spent about 45 minutes in the sandy area and quickly realized that it had to have been detected since I was lucky to find a couple bobbie pins and that was...

I'm bored, so here are some pictures...

My wife's gone for Thanksgiving and I'm too lazy to do my "honey-do chores" tonight, so I took some pics of my finds so far this year. They aren't much compared to what alot of you post, but I just got back into detecting after about 15-20 years off and never even saw an ocean until a couple...

    Which one is real???

Although I haven't tested any of them, I'm 99%+ certain none of them are considering the size and only .925 settings. Nonetheless I have to tell you my heart skipped a beat all 6 times when I found one - that's worth the price of admission alone on some days :) If I keep finding these at the...
