Have to make a decision and Need prayers on this one

After reading this, I told my wife if I ever get that bad to just put me in a care facility, and get on with her life, and NOT to feel guilty about doing so. Bad enough one person's life gets destroyed. No reason for another to be dragged along. You've done an heroic job of caring for her up to...

    Makro Kruzer

I'm kinda surprised they didn't catch on with prospectors and nugget hunters. Sort of a high-tech Gold Bug 2. Jim

    Black Sand Separator

If you can find a copy of Al McGowen's old pamphlet "The Extraction of Free Gold". He tells how to do this. Al used a much bigger unit, that was 12' long Had one A/C electro magnet first, then a DC magnet, followed by two more A/C magnets. I have no idea how the guy in this video did his. I...

Any other Garrett 24k users here using it for Gold?

That new one is the first introduction in quite a while that got my interest. Jim

Any other Garrett 24k users here using it for Gold?

Yup...some are bad, others better. I got two bad ones in a row. Still have both. I know the problem area on the coils..just a matter of making a "bridge" of sorts to span it, and take the load of shaft off of it....then it's dead quiet. Jim

Any other Garrett 24k users here using it for Gold?

Thanks, Smigo! That pretty much states the case with mine, too, though I get more knock sensitivity than you do with the 10". Jim

John, that is an impressive haul, for sure! Congrats! Jim

Any other Garrett 24k users here using it for Gold?

My 10" was replaced by Whites, just before they quit. They let me keep the bad one, but the new one, while better, still has some knock sensitivity. I know the problem spot, and need to repair it, but just haven't had the time. It's not a big deal to fix. Looks like Garrett is getting the job...

LOL...not a chance on sub-gram gold. These are really deep detectors, but on large objects. They also react, in Cave or Trace mode, to dropping values of mineralization, excepting large targets. They are lousy for gold less than maybe 1 ounce, and that would have to be near the surface...

Any other Garrett 24k users here using it for Gold?

These units have selectable 2-speeds of SAT, which the TM808 doesn't...its a single speed. The "trace" mode on these is the same as "Cave" mode on the TM808. on both units the Cave mode tends to eliminate ferrous targets, unless they're pretty large. My TM808 almost completely ignores my...

Any other Garrett 24k users here using it for Gold?

Ya know, I've been casually watching for one of those, for quite awhile. Not many around. Then I stumbled on a guy (not a prospector) that haunts garage and estate sales and he had these two Discovery units. One was broken (the 900) at the stud that connected to the detector body, but the other...

Any other Garrett 24k users here using it for Gold?

Nope...not GPR, but similar as far as results go. The 2-box is still shallow compared to the earth-resistivity setup, but a more precise result. The resistivity requires probes driven in about 10", on 1 yard increments for the best resolution. Then you have to take many, many resistance and...

Smigo, do you notice any coil knock sensitivity with the Garrett version? I see that with my 10" coil in my Whites model. I don't see it with the 6" coil, or the 14". Jim

Any other Garrett 24k users here using it for Gold?

Ya know, I'm just getting into the 2-box prospecting. I got a great deal on an Arc-Geo data logger, and it got me thinking about all this. I'm always trying to think outside the box. So, it made me wonder if I've been approaching the whole nugget thing from the wrong perspective. Instead of...

Any other Garrett 24k users here using it for Gold?

Yeah...me too. Not sure it matters who is, or isn't. I use a GM3, and TDI SL, too. And sometimes a 2 box, like the Discovery TF1200, or 900, or TM808. Lots of ways to skin the prospecting cat. Jim

Im not superstitious but this spooked me a bit.

That is, at least eerie, Ron. Jim

    What Backpack do you use

I've used, for almost 40 years, an Alice pack, and lately on a Molle frame. Never let me down, and carries a huge amount of gear. That MOLLE frame is the most comfortable frame I've ever used. Jim
