Electric Wheels from Quincy, Illinois ?

Managed to get out for a while today and along with the usual modern finds I came up with this old tag from the Electric Wheel Co. that was located in Quincy, Illinois. The following link provides a little history on the company if interested. http://www.steel-wheels.net/allwork.html HH

    I revisited a trashy site..................

.... that I had previously hunted, often, using my 10 non DD coil. This hunt I used my 5 inch DD coil. The sight has a basketball court and on this visit my main focus was for jewelry in the area adjacent to the court. Although the one item that qualifies has no real value I didn't exactly get...

A little beach hunting in the rain

Did a little more beach hunting today in a somewhat isolated area and came up with these two items that grabbed my interest. The button appears to be possibly what

Silver #5 for the year plus a personal best!

Hunted a small section of beach today that a little research indicated some promise. Pulled a 1935s merc. a no date indian head and one wheat. You'll have to take my word on the IH and wheat, there really in sad shape. Not that the merc is anything really special but silver is silver! :clapping...

    Close but no cigar!

There not keepers but they could just as easily have been. As an example note the 5K platinum mounted ear stud!:pinnochio As an experiment I investigated more than a few of the shallow iffy signals that I would normally by pass on. Pictured is what I came up with. As one would expect I did dig...

First day with my sniper coil.:detecting:

I recently acquired a 5 inch DD coil to try on a few sites that I hunt quiet often. Each of these sites, although not old, has at least one area with more than its share of trash that I was sure was masking more finds. So today was the day to give it a go!:clapping: ((It wasn't raining.))...

DD coils verses non DD coils.

In equal ground conditions are DD coils capable of more or less depth of detection than an equal sized non DD coil? I

Didn't quite pay for my F70 but...

.....I'm working on it. Scored this nice silver ring today while hunting a small park I came across a while back. This makes for my second silver find at this particular park. The first was a Kennedy half. The ring was at 5 inches and came across as a very solid Quarter. Disc. 7, speed dE...

It was a clad kind of day until

I had a solid quarter hit at 5 inches. Most of the clad had been coming in at 4 inches or less so when I saw I had a Q at 5 inches I was sure I finally had some silver! Well I did but it just wasn't quite what I had in mind. YES!! Silver #4 for the year. HH

    Keeping the faith!

Hunted a small park on Jan-31st and had a good time but the pickings were so common and nondescript that I decided not to post them. Yesterday, Feb-6th I went back with a new approach in mind and had pretty much the same results. But believe it or not during the hunt I still enjoyed the...

One more reason to dig a TAB

Found pictured, 15 gr, .925 bracelet with my F70 while investigating a small trail I hadn't notice before. It was around an inch deep and read as a tab. One scoop of the foot and there it was.:surprised: Sens. 40, Tones 3H, Disc. 4, Thres. 0, speed, dE. Thanks for looking! :detecting:

    Another silver day

Revisited one of my old haunts today and wasn't having much luck, again. When it came time for a break I noticed a small trail meandering off into the woods that I hadn't noticed before. Funny how you notice certain details when you look up once and a while. Any whey I though...

A little silver for my efforts

Pictured are my finds for a few hours of detecting today included is a little silver for my efforts. FWIW, the silver religious medal at 3 inches deep ID'd as a zinc penny. On the surface it reads 66-67. Just barely into the dime range! Yes, as always, I still dig zinc penny's...
