    Compadre On Dry Beach Sand Tuning?

    I have a compadre with the 8" donut coil that i 'only' use on dry beach sand. Would it be practical to open it up & fine tune the selectivity & the ground balance pots for my specific use only? I do have the proper technical adjustment tool as opposed to using a screw driver.

    Silly PI Question

    I only want to hunt jewelry in salt water sand, (edge of the beach) . I only want to dig a maximum of 6" or so deep. I don't require discrimination since i would dig everything. Would a PI machine be practical or should i stay with a vlf machine with fair salt water capability?

    I saw an interesting youtube video on using a tesoro vaquero (9x8 coil) on salt water sand without ground balancing. The operator got 5-6" depth with no or minimum falsing. I was wondering if similar results can be had with lower priced detectors? What's your experience?
