    Probably button?

I’ll be sore about the election for the next 4 years. Nothing good ever came from going backwards. I’ve lived in the South all my life and know that the South surrendered on paper only. Still very proud of the generals and government officials that lost the war and the flag they waved...

    Probably button?

Just imagine If the South had won the Civil War (the way they won this last election), there would have been no GAR. A statue of Grant would have been unthinkable. That wouldnt have been tolerated by the the survivors in the North, much less the CSA. Only Southern Generals allowed on courthouse...

    Medallion.

Great job on the research. I was going to say post-1912 since that State Seal was first used on Virginia’s flag in 1912. You really nailed it down.

Last few hunts up to 11-10-24

Yes. Original pieces have “Ford” etched into the flat section. Otherwise, they are aftermarket. The ignition box was made out of wood, so these would be the only thing left after the wood rotted away.

Last few hunts up to 11-10-24

Last 5 hunts in this drought have been extremely taxing but I haven’t let it stop me. What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger? Anyway, at least 1 piece of silver at every hunt. The first pic shows a Tootsie Toy that I’ve never found before and a Ford Model T...

    Cleaned 2 unusual spills

Soft brush on the silver and buttons. A flat, sharpened piece of brass to scrape the crust off the printers blocks and other brass objects. Elbow grease with a wood skewer after that is next. A cloth with mineral oil lightly rubbed on the printers blocks brings out the details. Wire brush on the...

    Cleaned 2 unusual spills

All clean, shiny, and colorful. Found an 1886 silver British 3 Pence. Thought it was toy dime. A 1967 silver? Mexican Peso. What a huge size difference. A sterling silver band of some kind. A 1927 dog license. A Fossil watch missing the bezel. The fork was sold in San Antonio by the Newton &...

    2 unusual spills

Been too busy to post for a good while now. Still keep up with everybody else's though. It's dry out there since all the moisture got concentrated in Appalachia. Nature can be cruel and has no prejudice. Its going to be a tough recovery. Here's the filthy pile. Found 2 spills of the unusual...

Hey Dave how about this one?

Bicycle bells were also very ornate and similar in shape. I’ve found my share also.

Another great morning hunt at the 1830s home.

That’s some great finds. Hard to find anything that old in Texas. If you’re taking photos with a smart phone, touch the objects on the screen and it will focus for you. I’ve noticed your pics are blurry and we all want to see your finds.

    Egyptian Buzzard God?

I think it may be a condor. That may mean it’s from a South American artist.

A weird thing i found today

Is it heavy? Is it light? Can you bend it easily?

    Something different

Pardon my ignorance, but: What is it?

Didn't think there would be much there...boy was I wrong

Sounds like the field surface was scraped and dumped in the area you’re finding the goodies.

Went to a couple of parks

Used from 1902 to present. Check the backmark and you may narrow it down to WWI or II

    Here’s the scoop:

If it’s just tarnish, I use just white toothpaste. If it’s thick, caked-on minerals, I use a homemade electrolysis contraption to break up the black stuff.

    Any info on this buckle?

Could it be an “I” for infantry?

    Detecting Bonus Cash

Going by the top line, it reads: lead-47lb-$23.50. That’s the only line I see that shows lead. About 1/3 of a 5gal bucket
