    Hi Ferd, I believe the Outer banks were the first national seashores developed by the federal government in August 1937. The regulations for the metal- detecting are in section 36 CFR 2.1 (a)(7), (which you can bring up on your computer by typing it in search),which are in section 36 dated Dec.2005.

It seems all governments from federal to township are gradually taking away our rights to metal-detecting, among others...
