Been away for a while, just picked up a platypus coil and need to find longer bolt for it.

The coil that I just picked up for my SE Pro is serial number 0008! I have not tested it yet, I do not have a bolt long enough. Hardware stores seem to stop at 5/16 x 2 1/2 and it really needs to be 3" so it will get tight! Can't wait to try it out! May work better than the small SEF coil in...

    Coils for the O8

Are there any other coils for the O8, besides the stock 10", 11" and 5"? I would like something in the 4x7 or 8" range that is DD design. What Fisher coils will work with this machine? Thanks Matt

The SE and I did the happy dance today!

This has been a good summer for me, made it back to the 1800's twice today. First time in the same day for to 1800's and my first 2 cent'er.

    SE coils & rods

Do the XS coils and rods work with the SE Pro? Matt

New to SE Pro and starting to get the feel of it.

Well, I have had the SE Pro for about 3 weeks and only worked in about 4 hours in the dirt and 8 hours at the beach. The beach was a vacation trip, will not get beach time for a long time again. But, hunted a new site last night and came up with several modern pennies and dug several odd high...

A couple of more interesting DFX finds.

The ashtrays are kinda neat, sure they have no value... I have found 3 so far and have not damaged any of them digging them up. The 2 hitch rings were about 8 inches deep and of course about a foot apart.

Vacation with DFX, little local help needed...

We are going to take a vacation to the Smokies for about 1 week and then Myrtle Beach for about 1 week. I would love to hunt in one or both, but would really like to find a local to hunt with. Please let me know if you would be interested. Trip will be from the August 8th to around the 18th...

DFX helped me out today at a new site...

Well, only got a couple of hours on it, but it was fun. The first hit was the dime, no doubt that it was a good one. The second hit was the quarter, almost did not dig it... It sounded pretty good, but was only VDI about 60? Sounded good from several angles, so I dug it and found a nail...

Another good night with the DFX. Broke 1900 again.

Found a good condition 1891-O dime this evening along with a 1910 and 1927 wheat. All in all a good couple of hours. Matt

Another one for ya... it's a key, but to what?

I found the partial key at an 1860's house lot. It is about 5 inches long and is missing the part that works the lock. It appears to be either brass or copper. I am guessing maybe a railroad lock?

Ok, found some silver that has me curious.

I found these rings the other day. They are about the diameter of a penny and are way to wide to be jewelry at that diameter. They are coated with something and marked sterling. I assume they may be napkin rings, but they seem to be way to small. I found them in a yard about 6 inches apart...

DFX finally got some good silver today.

Got about an hour and a half of precious time with the DFX today. No wheats, IH's or clad. But got good silver. Both rings are marked sterling, I do not think that they are jewelry, the dimensions are wrong. They are about the diameter of a penny and are to wide for that size. What do you...

DFX got another IH last night + short story...

As the title says, my DFX got me another IH last night in high trash. :) Got a signal that I was not sure I really wanted to dig... sometimes it nulled on iron, popped like a nail but sounded good once in a while. I was running hot, PAG=4 and AC sens=70 with an Eclipse 6x10. I really wanted...

Ok, opinions needed... New detector, replace DFX.

Ok, I am considering replacing my DFX or adding another unit to the fold. It seems that most of the sites I hunt, old farms and such are so littered with trash that it is just about all the DFX will do to get through it. I am using the 4x6 and 6x10 coils, high recovery speed, low sens and pag...

Last few days good finds, not impressive but nickles.

I have been concentrating on working for nickles with the DFX... You know the solid 20-23 vdi's and narrow signagraph. Tried mixed mode all metal, just can't get the hang of it. But running hot and with a high recovery speed and the 6x10 DD I have gotten several wheats and now some good...

    Second night at new site...

The DFX came through again for me... First day, my first Indian and first pre 1900 coin. Now a pocket spill that I almost left, because it was so large I thought it was a pop can by the street. It had 12 wheaties, 1 no date buffalo (my first) and a 1945 40% silver nickle. Over all tonight I...

First coin at new site tonight with DFX.

Tons of square nails, but the first hit of the night was an 1897 IH in good condition. This is a first for me and my oldest by about 20 years. Matt

Do the Lobotomies elliptical coils work on the umax machines? If so, are they good coils? Matt

    Explorer variations...

Ok, so I am considering picking up an Explorer and I see many variations. What are the pros and cons of the units, the SE, XS, 2 and maybe I missed some. I am thinking late model used SE. Mainly midwestern silver coin shooter. Thanks Matt

    Coil questions... uMax series units.

Odd question for you all... Does anyone but Tesoro make coils for the uMax series units? Matt
