    Cortes in all metal

Hi all, My Cortes in all metal doesn't act right to me. The threshold sound pulses and is not steady, like its picking up R/F. (but its not) With the 5 3/4 coil it is better, more adjustable but still pulses. Is the pulsing sound normal? Thanks, Jim PS no cell phone on me, tried...

    Famous Trails MD 9300

Anyone ever try one of these Chinese 6000 Pro XL knock-offs ? I see it only weighs 2.9 lbs. and can be had for around $150 . If it only worked HALF as well as my old 5900 I would consider getting one. Jim

First old coin with new Cortes

Just out playing with my new to me Cortes with the small coil in my yard which is from the 1850's. I've hunted the yard with XLT's DFX's and a B/H time ranger. Also a 5900 Di Pro. So I was pleasantly surprised to hit this Indian at 4". It was in a iron infested area the larger coils on the other...

    Periscope detector

What ever happened to those Periscope probe detectors they came out with a decade or so ago? Anyone ever see or try one? Just curious as to how practical they were. If you remember, they had a long slender rod you poked in the ground till you found your target and then it supposedly ID'ed it. Jim

Weather finally is breaking here in the Northeast(At least in upstate NY). Got out of the house after lunch and hit a few spots I know. The first was a corn field where an old school stood in the 1800's. Got a couple descent signals but the ground was still like concrete! So off to a place where...
