    Minie Ball Question

    I just found my first civil war bullet today! Online I saw a display that showed a U.S. and C.S. minie bullet. The U.S. one had 3 rings, while the C.S. one had 2. Was there a difference in design between the two sides? And if so, how reliable is it that I have a U.S. minie ball. (It has 3 rings).

    I was detecting at a now gone home built in 1811. I found this object almost instantly. My detector said it was silver. The area I was in is Citronelle Alabama. The last major battle of the civil war was fought not too far from this area, a few miles. There is also a large field behind the home...
