    Detectorists with Cancer

How many of us are out there? I have noticed 2 others on the boards so far. My doctor tells me this is very good mental and physical therapy. I have inoperable carcinoid tumors. I am in a medical trial and so far am beating the odds. How about you? blacktoe Steve F.

    G2 and Omega coil interchange

:nerd:From what I read the 7.8 Omega coil will work on the G2 . WHY? Is it a multible of 7.8 in some way? Do coils for the Omega work perfectly on the G2 or are you giving up a little performance in frequency. The reasom I ask is I have an Omega with a 11" dd. Could I use the 11" DD on the G2...

    2 silvers yesterday

I got a 1917 merc and a gold plated 925 ring yesterday at a school. The ring is pretty with 2 red stones and 3 real small clear stones. I doubt the stones are real because of the ring being plated. Both were shallow tho. I just happen to be in the right spot. I found the ring as I was casually...

Why can't detectors see gold chains very well?

I have tested 3 different detectors on gold chains. I have tried doubling, straight out, and a pile. Only 1 detector will get a hit and then not very good. With rings all 3 hit good tho at different depths depending on the detector. It looks like the chance of finding a chain is pretty slim. The...

3 days of physical therapy with the Omega (long)

I started detecting again Wednesday after the doctor said it would be okay and actually help me mend after a hernia operation. Wednesday:I was able to get out for about 3 hours this morning. Starting getting tired and sore so quit. I went to the ballfields complex we have here. I am still...

    Metal Detecting as physical therapy?

I had a hernia operation 2 weeks ago. I see the doctor Monday and hope he will say detecting will be good physical therapy. It seems like it would be good light exercise without heavy lifting. If he says it is a go I will get 4 weeks of detecting before having to go back to work. I have only got...

I got what I asked for with the Omega

When researching a new midpriced detector I stated I wanted a detector that would accurrately TID a coin at 6". Yesterday I got my deepest coin yet. It was a quarter at 6" with a locked on 88 reading. I found 9 quarters yesterday and none were "state" quarters at a football field. From shallow...

My opinion on the Omega so far

First off, I have only been detecting for 2 years this month and have only used a Ace 250 for 6 months and a F4 for a year and 1/2. I have never used or seen a higher end machine. To me this is a higher end machine. So far I do like the Omega. The audio is very different to what I am used to...

Quick turnaround from Fisher on F4

I sent my F4 off for service 6/5 and Fisher got it 6/8. I was going to email them about the last of this week and see how it was going. When I got home from work today it was waiting for me! The packing slip said they found the problem and fixed it and they also replaced the 11"dd and 8" coils...

Interesting Tek Omega performance results by NASA-Tom

I got permission from NASA-TomTom to post this here. Looks like the DD coil is going to be a winner. blacktoe By NASA-Tom For the past couple of months, I have extensively field-tested a new 11" x 7" DD coil for the Teknetics Omega. Some interesting discoveries. First; the primary area that I...

    Ground numbers?

This is the first detector that gives me ground numbers and FE readout. Does the higher the number mean the less or more minerals in the ground? On my FE bars I am getting an average of 1 bar which surprised the heck out of me as this part of Ga has a lot of reddish orange clay. I thought clay...

    Omega on the way!

I got 1 coming. Many thanks to Richard! He is a great guy to deal with. I finally got my copays paid off from my cancer surgery last Oct and was able to order it. Bad news is my COBRA ends this month so I will live on hope it doesn't come back. The reviews on the Omega helped a bunch but if...

    more on the Omega?

Anymore more comments on the Omega? I saw where more have ordered it from past threads. Buckeye Brad and Shenandoah Digger. How are you doing with yours? What kind of depths are you getting fairly reliable TID on objects? I know the ground where you live makes a difference. I live in...

    Good day at the mudbog

Had a good day Sunday morning at the Mudbog and fasttrack. They had races saturday. I hit it Sunday for about 3 hours with the F4 and concentric. I can't use the DD because of all the bottlecaps. I have to disc out everything below zinc just to hunt without going crazy from the noise. I found...

finally used the concentric coil on my F4

I live next to a mudbog and flattrack. For you of those that don't know what I am talking about, here in the south they dig mud pits and see who can drive their 4x4's thru them the fastest. A flattrack is a short dirt dragstrip. They had a nationals race here a couple weeks ago and had about...

How close can 2 visions get to each other

without getting crosstalk from the wireless? Seems like if you got too close you would hear the other guys vision or it would scramble or hear both. Not knowing about how wireless works, I am just curious. blacktoe

    impaired hearing and Tesaro

I currently own an Ace 250 and a Fisher F4 and after lurking here for awhile am interested in a Tesaro Vaquero. I keep the 250 for my grandson to use. It has outrageous volume but I can no longer stand the belltone. I like my F4 but I have turn up the volume all the way on my headphones to hear...
