    question about nel coils

And where do those coils come from? I'll give you a hint, it's the most corrupt country in Europe and we're sending them billions of our tax dollars. :ranting:

    question about nel coils

Apples and oranges my friend. Your old Explorer and your Fisher coils are nothing but basic wound wire dipole antennas and there's nothing special about them. The Xterra's coils are V-Flex™ SmartCoils™ that communicate with the machine. There is effectively a two-way digital communication...

    question about nel coils

They are not the same company, but they do work together. Coiltek is authorized to develop coils that Minelab later produces for a few of their machines.

    Prospecting coil for my 705?

The 15" All-Terrain Coiltek coil will go deeper, but larger coils tend to not be as sensitive to the smaller nuggets as smaller coils are. The key to getting the most out of a large coil is learning to go slow enough to give the machine time it needs to generate and interpret the eddy current...

    Which coil?

Coiltek was authorized by Minelab to develop coils, and given the necessary information by Minelab, but no other manufacturer has had access to that info. Both Randy and I did field tests on the Coiltek coils and worked directly with them in developing what you're now using. You're...

    Headphone question

I don't see why not. They should be just fine.

    Xterra Pro Military discount

At least they answered you right away. And now you know exactly what they offer the discount for. I'm actually almost surprised that they offer a Military discount here in the states at all, being an Australian company.

    X-terra Pro Bass Pro Shops?

Does BPS offer free shipping for everyone, or is there some special code or other requirement to get that deal. I've never ordered anything from them, so I just don't know.

    Headphones For The X-Terra Pro

I cut the cord about 10-years ago and still use the same old Auvio phones that utilize "Kleer Technology". They aren't generic Bluetooth, so there's no pairing when you fire it up, and they're super-low latency. I've been happy with them on both the 705 & Explorer SE, so I imagine I'll keep...

    Felt Like A Kid Again

Someone had to be first, and I'm glad that it's you. Looking forward to your impression of it overall, and how it compares to the older models.

Could the X-terra Pro be a disguised twin frequency

It amuses me that people who have never even seen the new machine can draw so many conclusions about it by watching a few videos.

    Release date? ? ?

Word is that the first batch has been shipped and are on their way to dealers. Won't be too much longer before we'll start seeing them.

    X-Terra headphones

If they worked with the 705, then they will work with the new Pro.

    X-Terra headphones

Does it work on other detectors, like a Fisher, a Whites, or other Minelabs? I would think that any setup that utilizes a dongle transmitter that plugs into a standard headphone jack should work. The only thing to keep in mine is that the Minelabs all run stereo jacks.

Could the X-terra Pro be a disguised twin frequency

I admit that I don't have all the answers. For one thing, I don't know if the Nox is an all-digital machine or not. The X-Terra was the first all-digital machine out there, and it pioneered the use of "Smart-Coil" technology that was later employed with the CTX. An all-digital unit may well...

Could the X-terra Pro be a disguised twin frequency

It still all boils down to processor demand, and the fact is that it does take more processor to run multi-frequency than single frequency.
  17. Old Longhair

Could the X-terra Pro be a disguised twin frequency

It takes a lot more processing power to drive multiple frequencies than it does to operate on a single frequency. Four batteries in my 705 last longer than six do in my Explorer SE.

    X-Terra headphones

It would be absolutely insane for Minelab to produce a proprietary 3.5mm headphone jack and headphones for what is being called "an entry level machine", and barring that there is no reason that a dongle and appropriate headphones of any manufacturer can't be used. I'll personally be using the...

Could the X-terra Pro be a disguised twin frequency

Why do people think that there's something nefarious going on? This sort of thing happens far too often, and you'd think that folks would learn from previous experiences. Aren't there better things to worry about? I remember when the CTX came out, and all the same allegations were flying about...

mistake on my post about the exterra pro

I'll handle it, Jimmy. No worries.
