Just pre ordered the xterra pro

It's a pretty safe bet that it won't leave you feeling disappointed, even if it doesn't impress you with its ability. IMO, the new Pro punches well above its weight class, and for the $ you can't really go wrong with it.

    It Wasn't A Fluke!

Six months out of the year sites like this are off limits, and four months out of the year the ground is frozen, leaving two months at best to hunt them, so timing is everything. Beyond that, it's time on site, perseverance, and above all....research. I spend hours pouring over old plat maps...

    It Wasn't A Fluke!

Went back to the same site I found the 2-Cent coin for a couple hours today ahead of the rain. Things started pretty slow, and I was beginning to think that it was going to be wash, but then I started hitting odd bits again. More old harness rivets, a spoon, another thimble, some sort of tag (no...

XT Pro 2nd Outing - Fresh Site - I'm Happy

While I might have been happier if there had been awesome finds jumping out of the ground, I was satisfied with today's results. The site is one I've wanted to hunt for years, but never was lucky enough to have my work schedule, the weather, and the farmer's planting schedule align so that I...

Ist Take on the X-Terra Pro

My Pro was waiting for me when I got home from work today. I put it together, went back over the PDF manual I have, and took it out back to get an initial feel for it. At this point I can't say I'm overly impressed or disappointed. It lost features that I appreciated with the 705, but gained...

Where are the Xterra Pros ?!?!

HERE is a list of current site sponsors. Please feel free to name any of them in your posts.

My X Terra Pro is on the way

Two sites I plan to hit I've already hunted hard with the 705, but I've left them alone for several years to let the frost and tillage rearrange any remaining potential targets. I figure that will be a good test.

My X Terra Pro is on the way

Thanks! I hope so. My plan is to hit a couple field sites over the weekend, and then go over the same areas next week with the Pro to see if it pulls something I missed with the 705.

Some accessories for the Xterra Pro

That doesn't bother me too much. I don't tend to use the screen for much more than startup settings. After that, audio is where it's at.

Some accessories for the Xterra Pro

A cover is definitely at the top my list of things to get for it ASAP.

My X Terra Pro is on the way

Got my order in today. Should be here next Wednesday. I'll have Thursday to play with it before having to work Friday and Saturday. With any luck the farm fields that I want to hit won't be planted yet, but it could happen most any day now.

    question about nel coils

I think that everything that needed to be said has been. So, I'm putting this subject to bed. If anyone has more to say, feel free to contact me via PM.

    question about nel coils

It's simple. Minelab can't sue NEL/MARS/CORS in Ukraine because the Ukraine government doesn't support foreign patent laws. NEL also doesn't sell strictly through distributorships and will sell directly to anyone who wishes to order from them, meaning that Minelab would literally have to find...

    question about nel coils

I bet that if it were your time and money involved with its development you would see things differently. This is absolutely NOT true! Believe it or not, there is no such thing as an enforceable international patent. The U.S. does recognize and support foreign patents, but doesn't enforce them...

    question about nel coils

Okay, I'm going to try to explain it all one more time, and hopefully everyone will understand. I have no problem with NEL making coils for a variety of metal detectors. Most coils are nothing all that special, as they are basically just antennas. However, Minelab, with the Xterra line, opened...

I whacked one that had another username on a shared IP address. Kinda like a two-fer!

    Prospecting coil for my 705?

If deeper is the objective, then neither the 6" nor the 5X10" will do better than the 10½" that the OP has. However, the larger coil that sees deeper comes at the cost of missing smaller shallower targets that the 6" and 5X10" would not. I would add that there's a reason that Minelab sold the...

    Squirrels swim rather well.

Things that go bump in the night! I've had squirrels run right across my lap while sitting still hunting more than once. They tend to freak out when I move after they've crossed and they realize what they just ran over.
