    Need advice - lost ring

Rings are funny. When they drop and hit something solid. They take flight. I swear you'd think there super balls. I've worked around cinder block a bit. When removing old blocks for a new foundation. The ones that had dirt filled in. When water drains into them they creat little channels or...

The Vortex VX9 Is Really Turning Into A Coin Vacuum

Iron Halo. There's another way to do it as well. I carry a 12" 1/4" wide screwdriver. Just poke it in the ground near the target. Give a little wiggle. And break that crystalized iron. You'll get the true reading after that.

    Needing a new Shovel

For nice lawns and good sod. I use a mason trowel. I round and sharpen the edges. Then gently dull the edge so it won't cut my gloves or fingers. In anything but dried clay. It slices like butter. So clean after I'm done and walk a few ft away. I can't tell where I've been. Notice the edges of...

    Needing a new Shovel

For years I preferred long skinny ditch digging shovels. Though I had to weld a foot step on them. They kept disappearing. To many sons with to many projects. So I bought this thing. Like you I have trouble getting up anymore. I love this shovel. Very well built. Strong. Called "The Big'R...

    Need advice - lost ring

How deep do the blocks go ? A pinpointer will really help. They have a place to attach a lanyard so you don't lose them. Tie a strong string to it and lower it down into the blocks. If it's there. It will find it. I believe the ring bounced all the way to the bottom. Again. Good Luck

Need more cleaning on these Indian head cents

I soak mine in a combination of krill, WD-40 and PB blaster in a Ziploc bag. Actually my only large cent I keep in it. Then gently clean with a soft toothbrush. Never use salt and vinegar. Destroyed a few coins trying that. Stripped them to bare copper. Ugly I carry little bags of...

    Need advice - lost ring

You definitely need a pin pointer. Most detectors will only go a foot deep at best. A pinpointer will allow you to detect as deep as your arm can reach. I'm assuming that's an old footer. Depending on the frost line in your area. That could be 4-5 ft deep. Id recommend a Garret carrot...
