Greg's big Egyptian Adventure, Part 1

Summation: Went on a dive trip to the Red Sea, via a short stop in Cairo, Egypt, the pyramids/sphinx, El Khalil Bazaar, and the Cairo Museum. Day 1: 9.5 hour flight from New York to Cairo, bus trip to the hotel--drove past some pretty horrendous poverty areas to arrive at a plush hotel w/ a...

Returned ring.........and question about selling scrap gold.

My partner and I were underwater detecting a old swimming hole--he was finding and I was digging. Out pops a 1948 college class ring w/ the owners name in it. We did a little detective work and the ring will be returned to--not the owner--but the owner's wife tomorrow. Turns out the ring was...

    Infinium LS questions

Does anyone here use the Infinium LS while scuba diving at depths up to 30 feet or so? If so, how does it hold up at depth? Secondly, I am basically familiar with pulse machines, but most of the ones I am aware of are all metal. How well does the Infinium pulse machine discriminate? The...

    CZ-21 ground balance question.

When diving w/ the CZ-21, how do you ground balance it--do you GB it on land adjacent to the dive site, or GB it underwater on the bottom?

    G2 coil question.

If I understand correctly, the G-2's target separation and recovery speed makes it really, really good in heavy trash areas. This being said, does the 5" DD coil have an added advantage in this regard vs the 11" DD? I'm trying to decide if it's worth having both coils, primarily for relic hunting.

    F75 with Upgrades for Sale

I have a used, but in excellent shape F75 that has the upgrades (Boost Process and Cache Mode), which essentially makes it a F75 Ltd. It has the stock 11" coil, and a smaller concentric coil as well. The only issue this detector has is the lower rod is drilled slightly offline, so the coil...

    Another EMI question.

I was recently at a CW site where a high tension power line bisected the site. Standing under the lines, you could hear the electrical lines "sizzling." I was using the F75 Ltd., and fiddling with sensitivity, disc., etc. to find the best settings for those conditions. My digging buddy was...

    Fisher Customer Service is awesome!

Last week on a Tuesday I sent my dad's 1266-X in for repairs--UPS Ground--estimated that Fisher would probably receive it on Friday, would probably have for at least a week, and I'd get it back in 10-14 days or so. Nope. I got a call from Felix yesterday informing me it was fixed and ready to...

    F75 and cellphones

Actually this happened w/ a T2 but I figure it will probably apply to the F75 as well. I was detecting w/ a friend who was using the T2 awhile back, and during a brief lull in detecting he complained about difficulty ground balancing his machine, and erratic operation. He said that...

    F75 LTD relic hunt test.

Last week, I performed a test w/ the new F75 LTD with discouraging results. But maybe explainable results. I have a friend who has a "Civil War" Test Garden. He has a Read Artillery Shell buried at three feet, and a US Belt Plate buried flat at about 18 inches. The F75 LTD would not hit...

F-75 LTD controversy--is it worth the price?

Boy. One thing I have learned from visiting metal detecting forums is that some detectorists sure have thin skins where their machines are concerned. It's pretty doggone childish. But.......is the F75 LTD worth the price? For me it is. Here's why: It's a huge improvement...

    Identification needed please.......

I found this item in conjunction with a dropped .69 three ringer and several dropped .58s in what we believe is an 1862 site. Also, the immediate area where it was found has seen habitation back to the mid 1700's. It's made of pewter, and appears to be complete.

    True Story

I had dinner with a buddy of mine and his wife, and his wife related this story, heard from a co-worker: The co-worker and her husband took their 5-year old to the Chattanooga Aquarium awhile back, and while standing at one of the exhibits, they looked down and around them to find that their...

    Fisher Customer Service

Thanks to Bobbie for the excellent Fisher service I received reference my CZ-20. Sent it in on 9/5. Received word today that it was already on its way back. That's good service.

    Hooray fights the Monkey

I promised some people on the Views forum I would tell this story, so here it is. First my disclaimer: Even though I do not have firsthand knowledge, I believe this story to be true, because of later information received that supports it. Also, I know the original storyteller, and he didn't...

Trying to decide on a water machine.

I've been wanting to get a U/W detector but up to now could not afford one. What I end up getting will be used mostly in lakes and streams, with maybe a trip or two to the ocean. I know there are several good machines on the market today, and would like some input on what U/W detectors you like...

    Question for you Explorer experts

What are the differences, performance wise, between the Explorer, Explorer II, and the Explorer SE, all with Stock coils? I owned the original Explorer at one time, but found the recovery speed too slow. Thanks.

Needing advice on a Canon 20D lens

I only have the stock lens that came w/ the camera, but I'm now in the market for an upgrade in lenses. Can anyone recommend some good lenses for the Canon 20D, not necessarily limited to Canon manufactured lenses, but ones with high quality and image clarity? I'm interested in a macro lens, a...

Need input on a Canon lens

I picked up a used Canon lens for my 20D awhile back; got it pretty cheap. It's a EF 35-80mm Zoom. I'm not a lens expert, but looking at it, it looks to be of about the same quality of the intro lens offered by Canon for the 20D- a decent lens, but not of the highest quality. Anyone have any...
