    Maple Sugar Tap?

Any ideas? This is and iron pin/nail, that is hollow form the center to the end. I think it is a tap for maple trees. I found it on a battle site on the Union Side, so I'm not sure.

    Dry Goods Token

Does anyone know if this Dry Goods Token dates back to the Civil War? It was found at a Union Camp in SW VA.

    Flower Button

Can anyone give me more information on this button? It was found at a Union Camp near an old house. I can't make out the back mark without my glasses. Where did I put those glasses?

    Any ideas?

Any ideas what this is? I found it at an old house site that happens to be a Union Camp site. Its 10.5 inches long and about 3.25 inches around the cup. Is it a lead melting pot? Is it part of a piece of farm equipment? If you have any ideas, let me know.

    George Washington Inaugural Button

Luck is a factor. I was hunting a well hunted Civil War site a few years ago on and extremely hot day, and decided to act like I had some sense and quit for the day. I decided to keep swinging my coil on the way out. By the way, I was using a Garrett GTI 2500, but I don't think that matters as...

Hunted out site - I don't think so.

A few weeks of hunting a "hunted out" site with my Explorer II. Sadly to say, this site is now history. I'd like to find where they took the dirt!

    Explorer II early finds

These coins came from an old house site back in the mountains of SW VA. The Explorer II picked out these goodies from amongst a lot of iron trash. I love the Minelab Detectors.

My first Civil War finds with a Garrett GTI 2500

This is what started it all. After spending one full year coin hunting to learn my detector. By the way, I paid for two Garrett GTI 2500 detectors with modern coins I found within that year. I decided to try my hand at relic hunting. The years I spent hunting and fishing and exploring caves...

    Taking photos with GPS coordinates

One tip I'd like to pass on to keep up with where you find your treasure is to take photos of the site and/or treasures and write the GPS coordinates on the photo. This was easy with my Triton 2000 GPS as I could set it to associate the coordinates with the photo. Now I do the same thing with my...

    Fisher F-75 LTD Field test.

I'm getting ready to head to the woods with my new Fisher F-75 LTD. I've studied the manual, watched YouTube videos, read for hours on the forums, etc. I'm going to a site that has been pounded to death by a lot of people including me. I've hunted this site with several "top of the line"...

Silver coins with E-Trac day three.

Silver count from day three of the old school yard. I ended up finding 14 silver coins including a silver nickle and about 40 wheat cents and some modern clad. Not bad for a "hunted out" area.

Silver coins with E-Trac day two.

This is day two of hunting the old school yard with the E-Trac.

Silver coins with E-Trac day one.

I hunted an old school yard a couple of weeks ago over a 4 day period not spending over a couple of hours per day with my E-Trac. I decided to try to cherry pick the silver coins that may have been missed by others. I found lots of wheat cents not shown. This is day one silver

    Button found with E-Trac

I found this button at an old house place within the trash. It dates between 1830 to 1840. If you have anymore details on this button, pleas let me know.

    Protect your knees

I'd like to pass on a tip to protect your knees that I learned years ago in my caving days. If you are like me, you don't like the elastic bands stretched around your knees that are part of the standard knee pads. I usually hunt in camo pants that were left over from my hunting days. But the...

    E-Trac with WOT 15" Coil

Is anyone else having success with the 15" WOT coil on the E-Trac? I have been pulling some nice silver coins out of a ball field with it. Let me hear your stories.

    White's 6000 PRO XL Tip

The White's 6000 PRO XL is still one of my favorite detectors at times. You can cover a lot of ground with this "old" detector and find some good stuff. But one of the best secrets I know is how you can find such deep bullets and buttons that some of the new machines seem to miss. Most ferrous...

    Some Explorer II finds

I thought I would share a photo of just a few of my Explorer II finds from a mountain camp. Some of the small cuff buttons were very deep and apparently out of reach of all the other detectors that have been used on this site. The Explorer II was my favorite detector by far until I bought an E-Trac.

    Explorer XS

I thought I would relate an early story about my first Minelab the Explorer XS. I unboxed the detector, put it together, studied the manual and headed for a camp site. Well, the weather didn't cooperate. It started poring down rain, and I was wanting to hunt so badly. My buddy had his Garrett...

All metal mode can find stuff you missed

A lot of these relics were found very deep with the GTI 2500 in All Metal Mode. The round balls are usually hard to find with most detectors. This one box holds many different great finds including a .69 caliber Gardner found very deep. One compartment holds two 1916 Mercury Dimes - too bad they...
