Is the simplex spanking these other machines in these tests?

Ive been doing some simple elevated nail tests lately. Stuck inside today so I filmed some. Turns out the simplex is quite the little beeper in nails. In the past I haven’t done much testing like this. Elevated nails over good targets is realistic and should be looked at more than even plane...

    Which coil do you prefer?

Please keep us posted on how the Superfly performs on those two machines. It’s real good on the T2 but not a huge leap from the stock coil actually. Some places I would still prefer the stock coil.

    I ordered a used Omega 8000 version 5

They are decent machines in less dense areas. They have some of the best modulated high tone audio ever. A deep coin is unmistakable. Problem is, it’s poor in iron, it’s a little slow on recovery, and 8-9” is max depth. And you’d better be listening real hard to get there. T2/F75 is far deeper...

    Some more simplex silver

And why would you not ask more from this yard? Judging by today’s hunt there is plenty left. Now if you start making multiple trips with no keepers and switch up coils and settings and still nothing, then it’s a place you save for when you get a new machine 👍

    Bullet?

I will say slug almost without a doubt. You can see the rifling on it. Those old lead slugs were grooved like that. Probably still are. Ring up like a zinc or just under?

    Heart Broken

That’s garbage, man. I’ve seen a lot of evidence of what used to be here too. Our whole town covers a battlesite. The ravines and protected areas are all that’s left aside from the works in peoples yards. We have a site here in town that’s pretty extensive works. Someone has “contaminated”...

Walking around some works, no detector.....

The freaking agony but coupled with awe of walking on this history. Not many works of this magnitude are left.

    Metal Detecting Is a Drug..!

I will be heading up in mid April after the thaw. I’m drooling for some field action. My father in law has been snagging old permissions I’ve been researching from here. And some from old timers who just know stuff

I had no idea there was such an Iowa presence. Awesome!!

    What version ?

I’ve only used 2.68 and 2.78. 2.78 being my own machine. I always thought a big problem with 2.77 was useless pinpoint.

‘Bout like ‘at- Patriot pays for itself and most of the Simplex too!!!

    Metal Detecting Is a Drug..!

When I lived in Iowa, winters were torture. Now in south Alabama I can dig all year. Huge plus.

    Weekend digging before the snow...

I get into a lot of .69 round balls. Maybe 1 for every 3 or 4 other bullets in a couple spots. The battle here was 1865. Given the way the operations went, a lot of spots were first CSA occupied and shortly thereafter were Union due to siege operation. So I never know which side was using them...
