    There is a detailed set of instructions that comes with the pinpointer. Much more info than the Deus instruction manual. It takes some practice to get your timing right to turn off the pinpointer. I think the instructions say hold button down for at least one-half second. But if you hold it too...

    Question about EMI

    Something you can try--hold coil several inches above the EMI ground and restart the machine. It will likely de-tune a bit but it might be useable.

    Never had this problem but I heard somebody say a piece of grit got stuck in the keypad. Easy enough to use a vacuum cleaner and press the buttons to see if there is something stuck. Maybe hold it upside down so any grit will be removed easier.

FIrst check it to see what the VDI reads, then I carefully toss the ring in my yard being careful to keep it low so it doesn't fly over the fence. Then go search for it.     If you are hunting in an area that has already been detected you might try to raise the reactivity to get targets that are near to trash. Dig all signals that are only one-way signals. I have had really high percentage of good targets. I tried lowering the Reactivity and got no targets. Then...

    It took me a while to figure out how to press the buttons at the right timing. If you don't you can get lost in the menu.

    I like the DEEP program. The VDI is not very accurate so it's dig anything that sounds half decent. Just a note here about your discrimination level. Don't know if you have read any of Clive Clynick's books, but he talks about the foil cut-off and how you will miss gold if you disc out foil...

    At a dicsrimination cut-off at 45 the deep/masked targets maybe 46, 47 will be weaker than normal. So depending on how you feel that day you can set it at 42 and only dig solid signals. Still going to get some thick/wadded aluminum foil but the thin rings can have gemstones in them.

    45 seems a bit high on discrimination. 42 might bring in more gold. Although the line is 45 it still bleeds over.

    I try to use logic here. What are the chances a pinpointer does not work right> Now what are the chances that the same person will send it in for repair, they change out the electronics and the pinpointer still does the same thing? My logic says it is not the pinpointer so I guess that leaves...
