    xchange 2 program question

In this case it's easier to show, than to tell... Here's a link to a Minelab instructional video from 2013: Skip to the 11:00 mark to see specific examples of what you're asking for. I'd suggest actually watching the entire minelab instructional video for extra tips / tidbits of info. Good...

How many still use a vintage classic detector from the 70's-80's?

Nope. Since it's an AC signal, it's all about the cable impedance .... not DC resistance. The cable could be just about any length, as long as the impedance matches, and the cable reaches your machine.

    Battery charging

As Detects said, "No." Especially true of the EQs as they use: - Lithium Ion batteries (no memory effects) - Only one cell (in the handgrip) Current best practice suggest storing Lithium powered devices (for longer periods) with between 40% and 60% charge. (IOW, neither fully charged, nor...

    Batteries?

True, but you can buy unused/unwanted WM08 modules virtually everywhere (including this site) for $75.00. (Which probably defines a proper new value of about $100 to $150.) ...And, yes....$259 is ludicrous.

First barber dime in all my years detecting

Congratulations, and well done. :) Those things can hide really well from us, lol. The Barber coins are some of my favorites to find....much nicer looking than modern coins! mike

    Cz70 pro

Flintstone, The CZ7A with the 12, 1.5v batteries is a great machine. They will typically go very deep, the batteries last forever, and the balance is actually better than with the newer 9v models. Put some batteries in that thing, and get out hunting! :) mike

    Big 1894S silver!!

Great finds as always, Mark....

    I Can't Take This Anymore..!

I don't think you realize just how special your situation is....in that your wife WANTS to do detecting with you. Most guys (with a few exceptions) would gladly give a body part to have their wives join them metal detecting. Embrace it, appreciate it, and turn up your patience level several...

Call me lucky another walker today 1946!

Dude! Very nice....yet again. :) I'd venture to say you probably couldn't be paid to switch back to one of your old detectors?

    Rutus Alter 71 users

I like my Rutus. It's a really good machine. I've got a few other detectors to compare it's performance to, and it compares well. I particularly like the sound it makes on deep coins in the deep/mixed mode. That, and I can lower the frequency to specifically go after silver in bad ground. The...

Clean Your Equinox Power Cord Terminals

I've found that a heavy piece of flannel cloth works a treat to clean and polish off both the male/female surfaces of the magnetic power connectors. It's just the right combination of 'bite' without being too abrasive.

    What has happened to minelab

Depends on how you define 'worth'. They say the $1,000 iPhone X has about $370 worth of parts. Is it 'worth' $1,000? Is ANY phone 'worth' $1000?? I certainly don't think so....but millions of other people disagree with me, and gladly pay that every day. (Which I still think is crazy, lol.)...

Loss of depth / Factory Reset

One possibility to the 'gradually losing depth' issue: If you've let the inside of your coil cover build up with black sand (or heavily mineralized dirt), you can lose performance/depth with any machine. The solution, of course, is to remove and clean the cover.

a few finds with the Equinox today and a heartbreaker....

Awe, man! Those mowers can really do a number on coins... Too bad it had to happen to a SLQ. Nice hunt, though! mike

Weird piece of silver found recently.

Man, I'm with you FW....that underlying 'base' metal looks corroded in a way that silver doesn't. I'm not saying it CAN'T be silver, but I've found silver coins from fires before, and none ever look like that. (Have you tried weighing it with an accurate scale, and comparing it to the weight of...

Been laid up for a week!

I was thinking the same as Jeff....that silver ring looks elegant... Sweet!

Remember to check those arm cuff hand screws for tightness

If you only had a metal detector to help you find the lost screw! ( ...sorry, couldn't resist. ) Hardware stores will also have plastic thumb knobs that you can press into/onto socket headed cap screws to 're-create' the original part.

Silver trifecta Saturday and today’s hunt!!!

    Brass Railroad Baggage Tag

Nice  I like finding stuff like that....it seems a more direct/human connection to one who handled it last and lost it. Kind of like time-traveling, lol. :) mike
