    Two hunts, Two 1812 Buttons

The yellow/orange button might actually pre-date the War of 1812. I'm working on cleaning and preserving the other, a Light Artillery 2 button. Also bagged a VA half penny, 1840 half dime (tiny!), smashed thimble, a pair of musketballs, buckles, scale weights and even some mystery metal LOL...

    Mexican silver and more

Never dug Mexican silver before, but I got one today! Ferdinand VI 1758 1/2 reale. Also snagged some old one cent pieces, flat button and two- piece button back, and what's left of a monogrammed silver spoon. Not entirely sure what the square copper piece is - weight, maybe?

    Copper day

Those large copper coins seem to come out kind of rough at best! Dug a KGII and some other copper alloy stuff today. KG doesn't look bad, but Britania is gone! The anchor-shaped adornment piece and key shank still attached to a key chain were fun to find! Some buttons and a fancy buckle...

    Finds from the old farm

Good dig day! I've dug two Hampton Military Academy buttons with the building on them (today being my second), but I've never dug nor seen any images of an HMA button with the state motto figures on it! Maybe it's just me. Anyone know what the arrowhead or double hoop pieces are? V nickel is...

    Lunch hunt - part II

Thought real hard about it! Going back again very soon 😁 For the whole day.

    Pennies and a pistareen

I've found several in my first year of detecting, so maybe it's not matter of "what" and more "where" do you find something like that? The county I live in was founded in 1634, so there's a lot of history to uncover here.

I could spend every day there for a week and wish I had more time 😂

    Lunch hunt - part II

Southeastern Virginia. The county I live in was founded in 1634. It's a good place for hunting relics!

    Lunch hunt - part II

Went back over my lunch break to the property where I found the pistareen yesterday. Had a productive outing with two floral themed cuff links, a large button and a 1694 Spanish 1 real, Carlos II.

Pewter disks? What were they used for?

Possible! Make for a nice checkers set... all pewter. Wouldn't mind having one myself! Not smart enough for chess 😆

Pewter disks? What were they used for?

I found what appears to be two pieces of pewter today. One looks like a utensil handle end. The other is a disk. I seem to dig lead and pewter disks from time to time and have no idea what they're used for! Ideas? This one doesn't appear to be a button...
