Who is going to buy an Equinox anymore

NOPE. Absolutely, positively not. On an Equinox, the "watertight seal" DOES NOT OCCUR at the handle-to-shaft interface. Take your handle apart and remove it from the shaft, and note that there is NO RUBBER GASKET OR O-RING between the two parts of the handle that fit together around the shaft...

    Equinox 900 vs Legend

Unfortunately, greed/selfishness is one of the flaws within the human heart, and it's easy to fall into...to the detriment of yourself and others... Steve

    Equinox 900 vs Legend

Sorry to hear, CoinRobber. Times are definitely getting tough, with prices the way they are. I'm sorry to hear of your struggles, and will pray for your situation. Steve

Why thanks, Jimmy! Glad you found it to be of some value. Steve

    Equinox 900 vs Legend

objects DEFINITELY will sink, when buried in sand...but that's a fascinating anecdote. If it were me, I'd be digging until I found them, to see just how deep they ended up. That's important information to know, as a detectorist... Steve

    Equinox 900 vs Legend

sprchng -- The reason I chose to use the word "lying" is because what he reports is SPECIFIC. In other words, when someone says something like, "this machine is the best unit on the market; I find more with this machine than I've found with any other unit," that type of subjective statement...

    Equinox 900 vs Legend

DigDog -- the only thing I'll say is, one of the MAIN focus points on the Manticore, was to handle EMI better, and EMI can really affect depth. Given NASA-Tom's results, I would expect in your dirt, you'll get alot closer to the 2" depth gains (on average), if you hunt INLAND, than I EVER will...

    Equinox 900 vs Legend

sprchng -- fair enough. But I'll just say I'd be extremely shocked to find that he were "lying." Steve

    NOX LEAKING

I agree with you, jayhop. Since we have no idea what percentage of EQXs are used underwater, taking the number of machines which have suffered water intrusion, and then calculating a "failure rate" using "total number of units sold" as your denominator, is kind of a useless calculation... Steve

    Equinox 900 vs Legend

NASA-Tom, in my judgement (and I have "known" him for a long time, via message/text/email/phone) is about as straight of a shooter as they come. He's not going to "fudge" stuff... Steve

    NOX LEAKING

LOL! There may be a bit of truth to that... To the OP -- sorry to hear about your leaking unit. Many folks who hunt underwater routinely, have had leaking issues. The good news is, Minelab will replace the control pod for you, if it's under warranty... Sorry to hear it. You are not alonel...

    Equinox 900 Compared to Manticore

Gents, This same type of stuff came up on another thread here. I totally agree with you both. I have never dug a dime/penny with my Equinox deeper than 9", and none of my hunting partners have, either. You guys obviously are in the same boat. But, I also don't think that means we can only...

    Equinox 900 vs Legend

Yes, he did say this, but I don't think this tells the whole story -- which he explains later on. I'll try to explain what I'm saying, below. BUT -- before I post this, I want to make it clear that I am NOT making any definitive statement as to what the machine will or will not do, in terms of...

Equinox 600 and 800 on sale everywhere!

kschae4 -- thanks! I was not really itching to sell it, but if someone wanted it, and was on a "budget," I thought I might see if I could meet the need. :) Steve

    Excited about new Equinox

I hear you. I get your frustration. I don't blame you one bit. And yes, those "discounts" I mentioned, are absolutely "wishful thinking." I was just offering an opinion of what I thought Minelab SHOULD do, to begin to repair some of the damaged relationships they now have, with some of their...

Equinox 600 and 800 on sale everywhere!

CoinShooter -- I do have an Equinox 600 that is barely used (though out of warranty; it was my EQ 800 backup machine). I could sell it WITH the 6" coil AND a brand-new pair of BT-80 headphones that are IDENTICAL to the ML-80, but without Minelab logo (i.e. unbranded) for $425 plus shipping, or...
