    Lower rods on Equinox 700/900

Nope. The new Equinox lower rods are a much smaller diameter than the 600/800 ones, so they are not compatible. Steve

The mythical Beast really does exist :)

Dan, here's a good "setup" video showing the menus, that is well done... Steve

ID in iron, I didn't know this..

Understood, on the negative VDIs until you "wiggled" the coin... My apologies if what I wrote was confusing. I had a hard time trying to write my thoughts in a clear/simple way. But, I think the reason I wanted to say all of that is that I suspect that some of these "nuances," including the...

ID in iron, I didn't know this..

jayhop, Got it! Makes sense. And yes, I can see how that's a nuance that many may not have realized... The way you set up your machine, is the same as I do -- iron "accepted." But, if you discriminate iron, then on a "mixed ID" target, the machine only has the option of reporting the...

ID in iron, I didn't know this..

Sometimes talking about horseshoe "on" or "off" is a bit confusing. To clarify just for the sake of understanding... From the default state of the machine (targets with negative ID discriminated), I ALWAYS press the horseshoe button once, at the start of the hunt, to "accept all targets." So...

    Decided on the Equinox 900

Very interesting. The good news -- you got it tight. The bad news -- you don't have much more room to tighten further. Hopefully, you will never need to... Steve

    Decided on the Equinox 900

jayhop -- do the Minelab cam locks not have a thumb-screw adjustment for clamping tension? If they do, are you saying that event tightening the adjustment screw, you can't get the clamping tension adjusted to the point where the shaft stops twisting? Steve

Any word on any Manicore shipments???

I am #4 on my dealer's wait list. I sent him a text yesterday to ask him if he has heard anything yet regarding the Manticore. His response? "What's a Manticore?" LOL! Told me everything I needed to know. Some (most?) dealers are getting no info at all. Steve

    New D2 Shaft

Everyone, THANK YOU for the very kind words! I am so happy that everyone seems to really like the shaft, and yes -- a re-design of the location of the remote/mount (to allow better thumb access to the remote's keypad) was one of several "major points of focus" for me (there were about 6 to 8...

Deus2 Carbon Fiber chassis from Steve’s Detector Rods! VERY VERY nice!

Thanks for sharing the great pics, mudwhale! Mark kus -- yes, that lower rod flex is TERRIBLE; it's one of the first things I noticed the first time I held a D2... Steve

Thanks for the terrific review, IDXMonster! I'm so glad that you are pleased with the new rig! Steve

He must be lying I guess?

He actually said the PERCENTAGE of failures was not that high -- a big difference. With that said, though, in my opinion that's not a real helpful statistic, since I am pretty certain that only a very small percentage of Equinox users routinely use their machine submerged beyond the control pod...

Does the Nox leak from modifications

DigDog -- there's NO doubt that some Equinoxes leak. And there's no doubt that coil ears break on some Equinoxes. To claim otherwise, makes little sense to me, except if it's being said by someone who maybe doesn't spend much time on the forums or social media, and truly is unaware. Further...

Who is going to buy an Equinox anymore

I agree with you, on the screws. Those plastic threaded inserts, that are installed into plastic so as to allow a screw to be "screwed in," can certainly be damaged if the screws are over-tightened. The same thing can happen when threaded inserts are installed into wood -- too much tension on...

Does the Nox leak from modifications

Yes, the 700/900 surprised me. I fully expected the "successor" to the Equinox (whenever it would be released i.e. which is now the Manticore) would most certainly have a nice carbon-fiber shaft with proper cam locks, as there is no doubt Minelab was "paying attention" to the aftermarket...

Does the Nox leak from modifications

DigDog, I don't mean to be too confrontational or argumentative, but -- and I said this in the other thread -- NO, we have NOT stumbled upon a possible cause for Equinox water leakage issues. PERIOD. As I noted on the other thread -- on an Equinox, the "watertight seal" DOES NOT OCCUR at the...

Who is going to buy an Equinox anymore

MackDog -- to be clear, are you saying that using an aftermarket shaft, introduces the "possibility" of a control box leaking? Steve
