Compadre with 7" coil - where is the sensitivity pot?

Does anybody know (or can show a picture or schematic) of where the sensitivity pot is on the older style (with the 7" coil) Compadre? I know I risk voiding the warranty by opening it up, but it's easy enough to take off the face plate and I bought one cheap. I'd like to tinker with the...

    Fool's gold

And I'm the fool who hoped it was gold... The first photo is the ring I dug at my friend Stoney's place last night. He lives around the corner from me and has a couple of acres and a 1947 house. This is the second ring I've dug at shallow depths there, and the second ring that I had high hopes...

    2nd repair for :fisher:F5

Just got my F5 back from El Paso a few days ago. The bad news was the pinpoint button started malfunctioning so I sent my F5 in to get repaired for the second time:sad:. The detector would briefly power off when I pressed the pinpoint button and the detector would then revert to default...

Silver #104 finally takes me abroad.:ausflag:

It took me to silver #104 to get my first foreign silver, a 1943 three pence from Down Under. 5" deep, hit around 68-71 with the F75 in DE mode. The others are silvers #101-103, a 43 quarter and a couple rosies. I've been using lemon juice on silver lately, and I'm liking it on silver better...

Dave Johnson on the :teknetics:Omega 8000 and :fisher:F5...

OK, most of this post is observations from yours truly, marcomo. But Dave's name carries quite a bit more "gravitas" than mine so he gets the title! Going straight to the horse's mouth, no offense Dave, here's what Dave Johnson has to say: "In terms of performance and response characteristics...

    My first demo site...

Got permission to hunt a site with several vacant houses slated to be demo'd for new development. Decided to take pictures of the finds as I went along. Except for the 1964 rosie, all the finds were made from 7/10-8/1 at the same demo site with the F75 LTD. Five houses that dated from the...

    F5 software update

Del asked me the following question on the Tesoro forum, I'm answering it here where it's more appropriate. marcomo----Excellent report on the pros & cons of the F5.---I didn't know that about the 66 upgrade.----When you got yours back--do you get any (or now very little) chatter when the coil...

When did the current style tab first come into use?

I remember reading Nasa Tom saying the pulltab was invented in 1962. Does anybody know when the current stay on the can (yeah right, we dirt fishers know better!) tab replaced the pull off tab. I remember vaguely when it happened, but it didn't really register. Sometime in the 80's I think.

A big thank you to goodmore!

I bought a pair of headphones from him on the accessories forum and when he shipped he threw in a couple great books and several recent W&E's and LT's. A very kind gesture and needless to say an excellent transaction!

How does the Omega improve over the F5?

For those of you who use or have used the Omega 8000 and the F5, what improvements do you see in the Omega over the F5? I have a F5 and like it a lot. I know the Omega is about a year newer design. Expert detectorist Mike Hillis prefers the F5, I want to hear what others who prefer the Omega...

WTB :fisher: F5 5" DD coil.

I'm willing to pay a very fair used price for a clean F5 sniper coil.

    Some fine headphones...

I'd heard a lot of good things about Killer B's, but had never tried them. Well I had a chance to get a pair of Stingers at cost, so I got them. They sounded great, and in many situations I like the safety and awareness of having a earphone cup on only one ear. How did I get them at cost...

DD vs. Concentric in the heat?

I remember reading in the past that a DD/Widescan coil cannot handle being in high temperatures as well as a concentric. Assuming this is true, can Bryce or any of the other knowledgeable people here elaborate on why?
