First trip out with the Makro Racer2

I got the new Makro Racer2 and was itching to test it out at an iron infested ghost town'ish kind of site that it should excel at. My detecting buddy was gracious enough to take me to one of his 'worked out back pocket' sites to see if it could eek anything out from amidst of the sea of iron...

    R2 Coils

It seems odd to me that the Racer2's 5" RC13E coil is perfectly round vs the Racer1's RC13 5"x4.5" OOR coil. Given that the coils between the R1 and R2 are interchangeable, and the fact that the OOR RC13 R1 coil works so dang well, what's the logic behind the change to the RC13E coil on the R2...

Relic Season has begun - Racer or Bust, please be Seated for the Barber

Did a road trip with a detecting buddy to check out some new sites we researched, and detect some old sites we've done well at in the past. The fist stop was an old c.1800 Spanish outpost site that I finally figured out where it was. Given it's current location we didn't have much hope that...

Pinpointer trigger switch on Racer kaput or?

I just got back from a detecting road trip on some old relic sites (more on that in a separate post!), but I had a funky issue. The Racer did a great job, but one day we hiked into an old spot to check out and the trigger for the pinpoint function did nothing. It worked fine for ground balance...

    The Omega 8500 is OUT!!!

A reliable poster on %$^#& forum posted that he ordered an Omega 8000 (with the new discounted price) from his B&M detector shop, the shop drop shipped it to the customer from FT and they shipped him the Omega 8500 instead of the Omega 8000. For more details see ^&%$#, but looks like it's out...

No coil issues here > Spanish Copper, Phoenix Button and Indian Trade Jewelery

Picked up a the RC40 large coil for my Racer and did a little detecting with my friend yesterday to test it out. Here's finds from his site, sans about a 12 pack of canslaw :ranting: It was fun to test out my new 15.5" x 13" coil, but I don't know if I could hunt with it for more then...

    Omega 8500 New Features

Some nice features on the 8500: NOTCH VOLUME – Adjustable Volume Offset by Target Category. Each target category can have its volume adjusted independently. This advanced setting affects the Master Volume setting and functions only in DISCRIMINATION Mode. I really like the Deep...

Makro CF77 PRO - What's the skinny on this machine?

There's almost nothing online about the Makro CF77 PRO, yet the few posts I've seen seem to indicate it could be a deep seeker. Is it strictly a coin machine (which seems odd considering it's not metered), or is it killer in iron too? How's it do in mineralized ground? Anyone got anything...

Racer 5x10" DD vs 11"DD Depth Test ? :detecting:

I've read some good hunt reports on the Racer's 5x10" DD coil, BUT what I'm really curious about, is if anyone's done a depth test between the two coils..... a real, measured depth test? I'm sure they're probably close in depth, but I would really like to know how close? Unfortunately I've...

Anyone using the 15.5''x13'' RC40 coil?

I saw this video a while back, and it looks like the RC40 is a good coil, but the targets he's detecting are fairly large: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZDvfMZQ7cs This guy does a live hunt with it, and finds some buttons, and it looks like he's getting good depth on his targets, including...

Racer didn't miss the train .... or hunting with zero disc

Took the Racer and F75 out to a little spot I've worked over the years, I've hunted it with every machine I've owned multiple times over the years (Sovereign, Etrac, F70, F75, Omega, AT Pro, etc), it's a small spot, no larger then about 50'x75' but has yielded dozens of old silver coins, Indian...

    Detecting with zero disc

When people post their settings (which is very helpful) I see that the majority of people are leaving the disc setting at 10, a few will lower it to 5, and quite a few will actually raise it. I'm planning to detect a "hunted out" site this weekend that the Racer has done very well at, but to...
