Surfs UP - CA Beach Finds :detecting:

Met up with a friend for a little CA beach hunting action. We couldn't have asked for better weather (in sharp contract to last Thursday). I made a few finds, and learned some valuable lessons as well (like don't tell one of the old timers that you just came from a coin pocket so he can go and...

    Struck Silver in SF

After getting silver skunked at GGP Saturday, I decided to try another place on Sunday in San Francisco I've been wanting to hunt for a while. Got there early in the morning (was nice, nobody around) and my 3rd signal was a nice merc. Ten minutes later another merc, then 20 minutes later a...

CZ70 at the beach - salt mode

Went to Santa Cruz during the middle of a big storm erosion event Thursday, unfortunately there just wasn't enough erosion to get to the pockets of goodies. The CZ70 ran really well at the beach in ID mode, but oddly only if the "salt mode" was off. Seems odd that the salt/beach mode...

Anyone tried the F70 10" Concentric on the F75 LTD

Has anyone done any testing with the F70 10" Concentric on the F75 LTD? I have it, just haven't tested it yet as I rarely take the 11" DD off  Happy Holidays and Happy Hunting, Brian

Recent hunts, Silver & Gold

Got out to a couple of older spots won Wednesday, and although the old coins were stingy, I still managed to find some silver. First up is a Victorian sterling silver ring. It was black in the center so I hit it with a little cleaner, and it appears that there may have been a stone or such...

    BRAND NEW UNOPENED F70 / F75 / F75 LTD 5" DD COIL FS :fisher:

I have a brand new, still sealed, F70 / F75 / F75 LTD 5" DD coil for sale. Asking $110 shipped to your door. Paypal or Postal MO. If your looking for a 5" DD and would prefer to buy my used one (very few hours on it) I can sell that one too (I need to keep one or the other ) and...

F75 LTD as a jewelery hunter

With gold hovering around $1200 an ounce, I thought I'd see how the F75 LTD would be as a jewelery hunter by hitting some fresh water lake beaches and tot-lots to test what combination of settings was the most effective. After trying JE, DE, PF and BP modes, along with the various tone...

Last few hunts - Jimmie Allen, Chinese cache, Victorian jewelery, and coins too

Haven't been getting out as much as I'd like to lately, but still managed to find a few goodies on the last few hunts. Victorian gold plated cuff link, my first Chinese cache coin, SF trolley token, Cub Scout pin, Victorian sterling silver stick pin (minus the pin), Victorian copper ring (has a...

    V3 vs. F75

Bold statements for someone who probably hasn't a clue as to the complex mineralized nature of Northern California soil and how it affects TID processing, add to that the depths that we typically need to obtain to detect older coins and text book perfect detecting scenarios can be thrown out.

    V3 vs. F75

I believe the control housing/screen has some play/flex so it won't break if twisted too much. I know what your saying though, the White's and pre- First Texas Fishers are built like tanks and will probably last forever, unfortunately there's a price for tank build quality - excess weight...

    V3 vs. F75

Good review, a couple of points to add. Although the F75 LTD arm cuff may appear to be plastic, it's metal. You can bend it to the contour of your arm. Actually if I'm not mistaken only the lower rod is plastic (for obvious reasons), and the control housing/battery housing, which is probably...

MY F75 LTD REVIEW: Gold, Silver, Pierce Arrow, Orphan Annie, relics, oh yeah and coins too! :detecting:

I've had my F75 LTD for a week now, and have put over 30 hours on it hunting, testing and re-testing various settings, so I wanted to share my findings. This is my testing, for my style of hunting, in my Northern California mineralized dirt and intercity EMI. Having put in a serious amount of...

    First Gold with V!

Nice looking ring Rich  In the U.S. they've been marking gold with the karat content since at least the mid 1800's, but it wasn't required until 1906, so many pre-1906 pieces were not marked. At any rate, it does look to be an older ring.

What's the deal with modern pull tabs on the F75 LTD

I took my LTD out for its maiden voyage this afternoon, and interestingly modern pull tabs are registering in the dime'ish segment. I believe only the modern square tabs, but I need to do more testing to confirm whether other pull tabs were too (seems I did pick up an old school tab that...

Brand New F75 LTD with "stains" on the LCD display?

My brand spanking new F75 LTD arrived this evening, and I assembled it and tried a few air tests, which thus far are not so impressive no matter what mode and other settings I use, but I'll take it out tomorrow for dirt testing which I'm sure will be much more impressive. At any rate, has...

    CZ70 Continues to impress

This detector has been a ring magnet  I can add two more sterling silver rings to my collection. Shown is a large mens silver wedding band marked .925 and I LOVE YOU and a Mexican silver ring marked .925 Heco (hand made). What really impressed me is I hit a small area in the town I...

Colonial Buckle ? ? & Military Band Button

Went on a trip to NY and got some detecting in (full trip report here: http://www.findmall.com/read.php?37,1073953 ) and found this buckle at a town square that started in the 1790's that I believe may be Colonial era: It was silver plated, and had a simple design of lines on the front (that...
