Back Searching For That Elusive Boy Scout Camp.

Off work again today. Hit a different part of the woods today where I might find some traces of Boy Scout finds. There were more signals. I detected deep tinfoil, a good indicator of previous camp sites, where they used to bury their trash instead of hauling it out. There were a lot of 22...

    Private Home Hunt with Apex

I will sometimes knock on a door if a house is slated to be torn down, otherwise, there are enough parks, schools and woods around here to keep me going for a long time. I just love when you discover something new that works on your metal detecting. It's part of the learning curve. My nickels...

Looking For An Old Boy Scout Camp. Did Get A Silver

I am still hunting in multiple frequencies. I don't need the depth where I am hunting. I have been digging all the deep targets though. The APEX like most other detectors may not always read targets properly at extreme depths. So far, no surprises yet. I do like the fact that it is so light...

Looking For An Old Boy Scout Camp. Did Get A Silver

Out today with the Apex searching for an old Scout Camp, as rumor had it. I hiked many trails around a river, but no real signs of any camp. I did however find a small coin spill including a silver dime. I also dug up an iron signal, which turned out to be the buckle on a partial old leather...

Here's This Years Rings So Far........ (winter is starting)

4 x gold, 7 x silver, 2 x s. steel, 1 x copper, 9x? The gold came from fresh water lakes and the remaining came from parks, sports fields, and water. I have about 1,200 rings which I have found at home, and about 160 gold I have sent to the Texas refinery for spot value.

Here's This Years Rings So Far........ (winter is starting)

Most of my rings were found in freshwater lakes with the AT MAX. Most of the land rings found were with the APEX, as shown below.

This Is Just Crazy Lucky With The APEX. Got Ring #7 Today!

Well, I like it. It's light in weight and has many options to tweak it up a bit for your hunting preferences and specific targets. For example, using the 20kHz for a tiny flake of gold get better sensitivity and depth then multiple frequencies. As a general rule (but not always) a higher...

Here's What The New Garrett APEX Is Capable Of After 10 Hunts!

It's a pretty sweet machine. It does a lot for it's price. Can't wait until some more coils become available to enhance your type of metal detecting.

This Is Just Crazy Lucky With The APEX. Got Ring #7 Today!

Still isolating due to shingles, which are contagious. Headed off to a park and then the woods. Got yet another nice silver ring in the woods. It depicts an eagle, typical of North American Indigenous Peoples' art. The ring read in the high 80's, hitting 90 at times. Audio check showed it...

Got APEX Ring #6 Today, Self Isolating Because Of Shingles......

Autumn is the best! Bugs are gone, druggies have moved out of the woods cool fresh air feels good. I hunted in MF, sensitivity 7/8 in relics mode with the iron audio turned off. The ring set off a nice stable high audio sound, in the low 80's. After doing some previous tests with different...

Any tips on using a Garrett ace 200

-Don't run your sensitivity too high -Look for stable targets where the numbers don't bounce around too much -If you find a target, consider running the coil over it in different directions to see how the numbers read. -If you have a target, continue moving the coil over it in and raising the...
