Sovereign arm cuff and cold weather

Even with a long sleeve shirt on I have no problem sliding my arm in and out of the strapped cuff, but add a jacket and it gets to be a chore. I was wondering what tricks you veterans have up your sleeve for using the arm cuff in cold weather.

    Bitter sweet vacation

Well, I went on a short vacation but before I left, my Propointer switch broke and I had no time to send it for repairs or buy a new one (no local dealers). So I ran to Harbor Freight and got a cheap Centech pointer, packed my GT and off I went. In between sightseeing and exploring, I found an...

    Iron mask revisited

I am really liking this detector, I dug a 1945 washington quarter yesterday in an area I hammered hard after finding a couple mercs with my other detectors. I read a lot of posts/debates about iron mask to the point my eyes were blurring. My question wasn't answered in the posts I read so here...

    Repaired Pro pointer

I posted this for those do-it-yourselfers that may wish to attempt a repair before sending it in for repairs. Sorry, I took no photo's, would have been helpful As usual, my 3 year old pro pointer was covered in mud so I rinsed it off, let it dry, then checked it for operation. Its performance...

Hi GT users, I have a noob question about discrimination

My machine was sold to me as new but I discovered it had been a display/used model that never had the warranty card filled out. So hopefully you can understand my concerns for the following; I have been out in a park and a school the past two days using and learning my Sov GT. Since I decided...

OK, I've joined the ranks of GT owners but...

I have what appears to be a problem with my detector. I've searched the forum for an answer but didn't come across one. Here;s what its doing out of the box with a full charge on the battery. I set the Sov to the initial disc setup in the manual. I was running it in my test bed this morning and...

    GT sticker shock

Is my memory that bad? Last year I was looking at buying a new GT. Seems I remember the price near $750. I decided to spring for one and when I checked the price online it was $999. Are they going up with the price of gold?

    Baseball diamond success?

Where have you found jewelry on the diamonds? I have searched over a couple but never had any success.. Usually behind the backstop and benches is a lot of trash. Infield virtually nothing and outfield some clad. Most of my clad finds were in the grass between the infield and outfield. Even the...

    Deepest gold in the sod?

Well, this year was my first year for "solid gold" rings. I found 6 of them (all in the turf). One had been lost 5 years ago and was less than 2 inches in the earth. In fact, all the rings save one, were found within 2 inches of the surface. The deeper one was found at around 5 inches. I believe...

    Noise cancelling headphones

I have a pair by Creative Labs that were less than half the price of detecting headphones. I can't use them on my Vaquero without an in-line volume control (I don't have one...yet). The difference is incredible with NC on as opposed to using them with NC off. It amplifies the signal as well as...

    Back to school

Went to a local school today. I'm not sure of its age but it was built before 1955. Besides some change and a couple wheat pennies I found these, both are sterling silver. The ornate one is old. Has an indian head and the word sterling stamped inside the band. The other ring was on a chain...

Civil war relic hunting in the south

I have this idea that I would like to relic hunt civil war artifacts in one of the states south of me...Tennessee, Kentuckey, W.Virginia. The problem is I don't know where to go in these states that detectors are welcome. I only have a couple days vacation left and have to use them before...

Dont toss those flat washers just yet.....

I got permission to search the yard of an old abandoned farmhouse. Metal debris is strewn all over the property and the grass and weeds are difficult to negotiate. Anyhow, I dug a good signal that turned out to be a flat washer....or so I thought until I got it home and looked closer. The pic...

A good day with the Vaquero

This spring I was aproached by a gentleman who proceeded to tell me about a wedding ring he lost at a soccer field. He described the ring thoroughly and gave me his card. I told him I wasn't going to make a special trip but if I was in the area I would give a search. I finally made the trip and...
