Meteor Or What The Heck Is It?

It's roughly twice the size of a softball in width at least. I was hunting deep in the woods with the Sovereign a year or so ago and came across it just laying on the forest floor. There were no other rocks around anywhere in that entire patch of woods I was detecting. I originally left it there...

Speaking Of Meteors, What The Heck Is This Thing?

Water Hunt Today & Scored A Gold Coin!

But unfortunately it was a clad gold coin from some foreign country. :sadwalk: Had my heart going for a second, thinking it was perhaps a gold coin from a pendant, because I didn't recognize the design on it and it had an old look to me, but I quickly realized it was clad. The date is 1996...

Hunting The Dry Towel Line On Fresh Water Beaches With No Tides/Water Migration?

Just curious how many of you guys like to hunt the towel line on fresh water beaches were there is no tide to change things. How you doing on the towel line for gold rings as compared to in the water? Seems like I've had more luck with rings in the dry sand than in water water, although to be...

    Pinpointer Compatibility

You can add the Sovereign and Etrac to the list of machines the Pro Pointer doesn't mess with. If for some reason a FBS machine isn't being bothered with it (haven't heard that though) just do a noise cancel with the Pro Pointer on and it should take care of the problem by changing channels...

Beach Hunt This Morning. Mineralized And Black Sand Streaks. Some Curious Target Responses, OH...& More sweep speed play...

I was planning on trying my back shaft extension water rig today but woke up at sunrise to rain and cold temps, so I figured that will have to wait. I think maybe tomorrow I'll do a mid day hunt in the water since the beaches are closed now and we can show up any time of the day now. Anxious to...

Somebody Shot Me A PM About Building Custom Shafts. Thought It Might Be Helpful To Others Thinking Of Doing That...

I removed his name for privacy since this was asked in a PM... It's the LOWER carbon fiber rod and not the middle one. Don't know if that's the part # you got. White's own website had them for only $10 when I bought two for ease in coil swapping, and even though they are twice as long as the...

Progress Finding Age/Rarity/Value Of Old "F-S" Padlock. Somebody In The WhatIsIt Findmall Forum Found One Just Went Up For Auction. (Pic & Further Inf

While I could find plenty of "F-S" padlocks on the web in the $30 to $50 range, most of them looked rather plain compared to this one and didn't seem to look as old. That had me suspecting that perhaps this model was fairly rare, because believe me I searched hard and couldn't find a picture of...

Looking For Signs Of Old Activity Using Electric RC Planes/Onboard Cameras & Some Other Unique Ideas To Spy Hints Of Foundations Under Grass

Check out a few of these pictures below, and if that wets your appetite then check out this link to the Sovereign forum on Findmall for more on that, as well as some other unique ideas such as a discussion about using drought or frost to see the outlines of old foundations under the grass the...

Can't Find The Age Range/Rarity For This Very Old Looking F-S Padlock. Any Help Here?

Thus far I've found some F-S locks that are more plain looking and don't look nearly as old as this padlock that are going for $30 to $50, and some of those without keys or being in working order too. This lock is in very good shape for being in the ground. I has soaked it in olive oil to remove...

Some Pics I Haven't Shown Of Some Finds On Land Over A Few Years. Pocket Watch, Rings, Wrist Watches, Bracelet, Religious Pendant, Old Padlock

Here's some stuff I haven't shown yet, with the exception of the old padlock. All this stuff including the rings, wrist watches, neckless, and pendant were found on land, with the exception of only two of the rings. All the rings are junk but finding them all but two on land was a small victory...

Some More Sweep Speed Play On Deep Undug Targets Today, As Well As Seeing If Pin Point Mode Was Deeper Than Discriminate...

At the beach today on some of the super deep targets I tested more of the super slow versus faster sweep speed thing using the long general hunting sweep and not the short wiggle/sweep faster we use to pull the best ID/tone out of deep targets. At this beach yep, super slow still hit just as...

Now That Everybody Has Done Their Part Contributing To The Stickys To Answer Most Common Questions That Always Pop Up, People Have No Excuse Not To Ha

I'm doing my part now, even if the hunt was a bust like today, because Ron asked a while back that we make an effort to post little stories about our hunts, even if we didn't really find much. I've neglected posting a lot of my hunts over the last year or two because I always found it more fun...

3 Years Working This Machine Hard & I Still Can't Get Over It's Depth In My Soil/Sands. :surprised: Still Brings A Surprised Smile To My Face. Very Sm

As a prelude to this tiny field report, keep in mind I've owned a lot of machines over the years, and yet only about 2 of the best of them could muster about 7.5" deep on a silver dime in my mineralized soils and beaches. Only once I went Minelab did I break that barrier, and the GT has pushed...

Got A Gold Ring Depth Question In Dry (Never Covered With Water) Sand On Beach...

I'm curious, do any of you guys seem to only find gold rings in dry sand that water never washes over that are at deeper depths. In other words, does it seem you find more gold rings at depth then you do shallow in dry sand? And I'm not talking about because they were too deep for others to find...

Picture Of The Large Cent I Found Along With The Flat Button, & A Friend's Two Flat Buttons We Found At Private Land Wagon Depot Site...

As promised. My button and large cent are on the left, and my friend's two flat buttons are to the right. My button has an intact shank too, I just flipped it upright for the shot. This is the best my camera will do up close. The large cent has a date but is too gritty to tell what it is even...

Anybody See A Sovereign Control Box Thrown Into A Waterproof Box Mounted High On A Back Shaft Extension To Keep It From Floating/Dragging In Water? Se

Just curious, because if many Excal guys mount their POD high on a long shaft or a shaft extention to ride it high out of the water to lesson drag, seems like it would work for the Sovereign too thrown into a waterproof box to where you could get as deep as neck deep and still the box wouldn't...

Yet Another Sunrise Beach Hunt. 3 Excals Hunting Water, 1 GT Hunting Dry Sand, 1 Good Find, 1 GREAT Find!

Met up with 3 of my buds at sunrise to hunt a beach this morning. This time I figured I'd just take my land rig for the GT and grid out some dry beach. 1 Excal using the old 8" BBS coil, 1 using the old 10" BBS coil, and one with the modern 10" Tornado. Finally drove it into my ones head I think...

First Short Hunt At The Depot On Private Land, & A Few Good Finds!

The newbie, my main hunting partner using an Etrac, and of course me using the GT and 12x10 headed to the private land to hunt the depot. Turns out the depot he found out the depot wasn't a train depot, but rather a wagon depot. Just the same, should have some real good potential. We only had...
