    Coils

Yah..........that's a tough one. It kind of depends where you live, what and where you hunt. The stock coil is actually a nice compromise. But, sometimes getting a new coil is similar to purchasing a second metal detector at a reduced cost.

    Apex question.............

I had the same issue. Tightening the coil cable solved mine too.

    Coils

Sorry for replying late. I was working this weekend, and processing 8 lbs of buffalo meet to make jerky. Got it all done last night at 22:30. I would go with the 5 x 8 coil. It gets great depth proportionally to it's size. A great coil for working in the woods, creeks and areas with a lot of...

Got Squareness And Roundness In The Snow On Such A Cold Winter's Day

Kind of a cold one today. One can't waste a day off staying indoors. "I'D SOONER BE OUTSIDE METAL DETECTING WISHING I WAS INSIDE NOT METAL DETECTING, THEN INSIDE NOT METAL DETECTING WISHING I WAS OUTSIDE METAL DETECTING" "DENIZEN BARCADE" tokens were from a sports arcade in Edmonton...

Looking for some tips on GTI 2000..

Yes! You have to do a reset on all Garrett detectors when switching coils.

My Final Gold Tally For 2020 From Water To Dirt (all weighed)

It was a good year. Lots of fun detecting in the freshwater lakes with my AT MAX and land hunting with the APEX. I also spent a fair amount of prospecting on the North Saskatchewan River, which runs through Edmonton. Some of my prospecting locations were hit after work (a 5 minute drive), a real...

The white coil is more likely to false when hunting in areas where you are often banging into things. The coils are set in a foam material, so they can move ever so slightly. The coils in the black coil are set in hard resin. I do take out my 2500 at times. It's so much fun to use.

A Frosty - "Rounds And Roundness In The Snow Today"

A little on the cool side today, but the hoar frost on the trees was phenomenal. The branches all get covered with crystalized snow due to high humidity. Great conditions for taking beautiful photographs. Here's the edge to the woods we hiked into. It is near a creek, which was our...

Searched For More Roundness In The Snow Using The APEX

Got up early at sunrise and headed to another toboggan hill. Lots of tracks in the snow from kids going down the hill. A little chilly, as the weather reported minus 10 Celsius, but it didn't feel that cold, as there were no winds. Last hunt I got a electrical charging unit. Today I found a...

Hit The Hill Before Sunrise And Got More Roundness In The Snow

Well, my wife fried up a couple pounds of thick cut bacon a few days ago. After 48 hours, all gone. So, eggs and shrimp fried in butter and garlic also taste darn good.

Hit The Hill Before Sunrise And Got More Roundness In The Snow

But, it also feels good (warm blanky) after the hunt too, with a nice cup of coffee.

Hit The Hill Before Sunrise And Got More Roundness In The Snow

The spring thaw is a great time of year! The river ice breaks up, trails appear in the woods, grass in the parks shows up.

Hit The Hill Before Sunrise And Got More Roundness In The Snow

And it's always the hunt! Fresh air, nature, exercise and sometimes we even find some darn good treasures.

What about relics mode? True all metal mode vs. zero discriminate? If it is only coin mode, try making your own mode for coins and saving it. Have you tried resetting the machine by holding the on/off button until it resets. This often times can fix some minor quirks. Also, did you try turning...

Apex & 'Ripper' take on the woodshed.

I am curious how that 5" x 8" "Ripper" coil performs. I often use that size on my 3 x AT Series detectors. It gets nice depth proportionately to it's size. I can relate with you on how big those elm trees are. I have 3 in my back yard, and in the summer, they act as a shade canopy. Man, if I...

Hit The Hill Before Sunrise And Got More Roundness In The Snow

Got up super early, while the darkness prevailed. Headed to a nearby snow hill, one which gets a lot of tobogganers. Got a nice workout hiking up and down the hill until I pretty-well covered it. Headed back home, fried up some shrimp and eggs for my wifey and I, then had a nice nap! Life is good!
