Finds from last weekend and this weekend ...

Managed to scare up a merc and a rosie last weekend. This weekend I got to go water-detecting .... Friday I found the silver ring first and then the 10K gold ring shortly afterwards ...still need to have the diamonds tested to see if they are real ...anyways, I ended up besting my two more...

If you had to choose ...

...between a Garrett AT Pro or a Fisher 1280x ....which one would you pick? They are both around the same price give or take. Thanks ..

Silver #35 is another memorable one ... Minelab rules !!!:yo:

What can I say ? All of that rusted iron sitting around the coin in the picture was just inches off to the side in the hole. It was a scattered signal, but my brain said "dig it !" I simply cannot believe how good the Explorer is ... it has always exceeded my expectations I also figured you'd...

    Sunday's spoils ....

Found the quarter and some junk at the old resort this morning. And then I got called to work. Found everything else closer to home. It's very dry, we could use a good soaking. Notice the yellow foil in the hole with the quarter. It was an iffy signal that never once indicated a quarter, but...

Took my 11" Pro coil out for a sympathy hunt ..

I know it sounds nuts but I felt bad for my Pro coil sitting there collecting dust. So I figured I'd hook it up for coinhunting and also use it for locating a septic tank cover that I was asked to find. So, here I go, driving up into a 111 year old homestead .... I was floored. I started looking...

Sunday silver and a key-date Buffalo nickel ?!!?

The old resort once again does not fail to impress. I am almost positive that the Buffalo is a 1914-D. The mintmark is obvious, but the date is very hard to see. I'm sure it's a 1914. Wish there was a way to pull the date up so I can be absolutely sure.

Don't buy INB certified coins !!

I'm sorry that I have to bring this up. Anytime that someone decides to buy certified (professionally graded) coins, be sure to do your research before you spend your hard-earned money. I'm not going to blame anyone but myself because this is clearly something I should have done and I learned a...

Gilly in Illinois ... great transaction ... thanks !

Not so sure that the Constitution silver dollar is PR 70 anymore due to the oxidation on the rim and "cloudy" finish on the reverse and adjoining the rim on the obverse. Was hard to see those defects in your picture. Anyways, they are still very nice coins (Washington half-dollar is very nice)...

Found my first "V" Nickel ..

I know it's all about the pursuit of silver....it is for me anyways  .. but this is a first for me and was one of my goals this year. This 1901 Liberty Nickel was in the musical key of D...of course. Too damn hot and a million flippin' mosquitoes.

Could not have asked for a better 30th silver ... :minelab:

Another new local spot where they dumped old dirt from from the Main street reconstruction project a few years back. A large area to hunt but only half is detectable right now due to overgrowth. When I saw that half laying there I thought for sure it was clad. My second Franklin half ever. I...

Doc Heiam's backyard gives up another one !

I think that is #29 for this season. If I make it to 30 I'll quit bragging...err I mean counting. Once again the grass was tall and the bugs were atrocious and it rained occasionally. Great morning hunt !

A few relics and silver #28 today ..

Went back to Doc Heiams house in town this morning. Still a bit soggy and the grass is high but managed a few goodies.. 1923 merc...1909, 1956 & 1957 wheaties.....and an interesting medal or badge from 1925. Don't forget to fly those colors this weekend !!!

A few coins and some relics today ..

Some finds from the 100 year old homestead site, which is now the apartment buildings that I take care of. Found the miniature silverware in a 3 foot square area. Not sure if they are silver but they're old and are stamped "Made in USA"....They sure cleaned-up nice for being there that long...

    Saturday morning silver !!!

I have been saving this spot for the lean times....and the fact that saturday morning is about the only time I can hit this place. This is the backyard of the first doctor in Cook. The house was built sometime between 1910 and1915. Absolutely virgin turf.....except that I hit it with my Ace 250...

After watching it rain for 3 days....

...I had to get out and find something....ANYTHING !! This is the resort where I have had such great results so far this year .. Silver #23 ...'57 rosie.....and a '45 wheatback. Fork is silver-plated.....I'll take it ! .....and YES....I am still being fooled on a regular basis by rusted iron...

A wheat spill from the 40's and a 1918 Buffalo Nickel..

The 10X12 SEF scares up some goodies from the resort that I had pounded earlier this spring. I know I have been over the spots where the buffalo and wheats turned up....the new coil is starting to impress. Both holes had close trash targets around them.

My thoughts on the 10X12 SEF..

It's slightly heavier, but easy to manage. More stable, quieter....and the pinpointing is much better. And it loves dimes.....I have found about 30 since I put it on. And I had to work my arse off for that one silver dime ! #22...I'll take it !

    10 X 12 SEF..

Quite possibly a dumb question, but does the SEF logo belong in the front (toe) or the back (heel) ?? I installed it with the logo in the back but it does'nt seem right because I can't lay the coil completely flat when I put it down. I want to be sure I'm not losing my mind here...thanks.
